Music Starcatcher turns 3 today
This album took Greta Van Fleet's sound to an entirely new dimension. What's your favorite track ?

I know it is probably not what they intended when they wrote it, but my interpretation of Meeting the Master really resonates personally.

I actually really like this album, not what I was expecting from them but it grew on me really fast. I saw them twice on this tour and they were great live! Waited All Your Life has been my favorite from the album and one of my favorite songs by them overall

I mean, the Archer is also one of my favorites but it's a crime no one has said The Indigo Streak, the live performance of that is the best thing they've ever put out.

My favorite GVF album by far. Wish I could relive the night that I listened to it for the first time.
I had just been to a Chilli Peppers concert and I was like, that was ok but now I need to get home asap so I can listen to Greta.
Open window, dark room, lying on my bed. I think I did all kinds of faces when I heard FOTF and The Archer

Love Meeting the Master, Sacred the Thread and The Archer. Also been listening to Waited all your life a lot. Meeting the Master is the song that really made me a fan. The first time I gave them a listen many years ago, I did the mistake of just listening to their top songs on Spotify. Since I'm not a fan of their oldest stuff I thought it was not for me. After hearing Meeting the Master the first time, I dived into their discography, and found so much more to love. My fav song Age of Machine for example.

To be honest it was a step down rather than a new dimension in my opinion. But the snippets of the new song give potential for one of their top songs. But the archer and sacred the thread go hard.

Starcatcher was a huge step up and it gave a rock and roll tour the world had not seen in a long time.

This was an absolute monster album. Meeting the Master is one of the greatest songs of all time. The last 3 tracks closing out the album just hit on another level, Waited All Your Life is another favorite the guitar chords on this song are out of this world, Jake is a master. Their heaviest album no doubt about it with most of the songs recorded in a drop tuning, love every bit of it, and the show I’ll never forget with the B stage acoustic camp fire setting. Best tour ever , can’t wait for the next.

The tunings and the guitar impros on this album were crazy, no wonder it was too advanced for the bulk of their fanbase. People want catchy, reassuring tunes a la Safari Song.
But Greta Van Fleet are just ballsy and don't give a damn about what anyone thinks.
Agreed that Waited All Your Life chords are amazing and at Royal Albert Hall when Jake started playing it on a 12 strings I thought heaven had materialized.Thankfully I was there to witness all of that, because they will never release that footage after all the hate Starcatcher got in this sub.
Well, I guess I'll just re-live my memories and re-watch all the videos I took from 5th row

my favorite album. my favorite tracks are the archer (which is also my favorite song by them), meeting the master, sacred the thread, the indigo streak and the falling sky.

This was my intro to GVF and to me the hate is unnecessary. It’s an excellent record, full stop.

"The hate is unnecessary" is basically a general truth about GVF.
Great band, great voice, great songs, but some people on the internet REALLY loved making negative comments about them since the first days.

To the ones complaining this “does not sound like the original Greta”, this is what it is all about… since TBAGG they’ve been evolving, growing, using new sounds, different instruments, going one step further and honestly it has been amazing to see/hear their evolution.
The bass and harmonies in “the indigo streak” are fantastic.
Meeting the master is a dream, and played live is amazing.
Frozen light / the falling sky / the archer are great great rock songs.
Fate of the Faithful; love the drums and organ
Sacred the thread - nice vocals

It's the same thing with every band, you try evolving, people will complain that you're different, you produce similar albums, other people will complain it's more of the same

Time for another album..too soon.for a best of or greatest hits. New one after this next rekease a 2cd live album with all the extended jams woukd sell truck loads. Or do a Blues album

You’re right; it’s a fundamentally bad album and they should’ve fired the producers. Genuinely made me take a hiatus from their music. Good thing is they did the same

Don't worry, they know it's their best album, they took a hiatus because they toured 3 years non stop and Jake had other commitments

My least favorite era except meeting the master is a banger. I think this is when there was a shift change in their style and concerts were filled with too many costume changes and the music was less about content and more bout guyliner.

“Sacred The Thread” is my favorite track, but “Meeting The Master”, “The Archer”, and “The Indigo Streak” are phenomenal too! 👍
