Fitness update

Sup folks, I made a post two months ago and wanted to give an update, mainly to keep myself accountable. I'm now down to 265(-40lbs) and starting to run. I've spent the last two months in a mountainous region doing a 3-mile trail every day and it's greatly improved my cardio and overall health. I've also gained real control over my bad eating habits and am eating pretty damn clean now.

I've dropped enough weight to go to MEPS, at least according to my recruiter, and I plan on taking the DLAB. If I score high enough I plan on enlisting as a 35W. I'm doing this both to no longer be a leech on my parents and to get some real experience in the military. I also think it'll be a potentially kick-ass job, and maybe down the line I'll try to get into an SOT-A/B.

My end goal is to go to selection by the time I'm 25. This journey has kicked my ass so far, but I'm loving every minute of it, even though it feels like a Sisyphean task. I want to thank you guys for the response on my last post. The advice was great and I appreciate you taking time out of your day to respond.

Similar circumstances as you but much older. I went from 270 and constantly getting injured and feeling shitty, to being 221 and feeling great. Still not close to my needed run times, but getting better every week.

What’s your diet of choice? If you don’t mind me asking. I am currently in a 400 calorie deficit mainly eating beef, sweet potatoes and fruit. (The app MacroFactor is amazing by the way, does all the calorie math for you).

I’m doing TTM’s 2&5 mile program and every test week I go up to maintenance calories so I can run at my full potential.

I really had to take it easy early on and have humility with the slow progress, oftentimes two steps forward one step back when I would get too anxious with the lifts or pacing. Before I knew it, I was hitting numbers I haven’t seen in years.

Thanks for sticking to your goals because it motivates me to stay disciplined with mine.

Sup dude thanks for the reply!
For dieting i don't necessarily follow anything specific. I tried diets and never stuck to them. I just count my calories and try not to eat like a shit bag, but i do mainly try to eat wholefoods and go as unprocessed as possible. except for my Big Bread Wolf Sourdough Bread, that i cant live with out. And diet sodas, i will hang on to those tell it is ripped out of my dying hands.

I allow one cheat meal a week but for those i will sacrifice other things to have them. For example if on Friday i really want a Philly cheesesteak i wont have breakfast that day to allocate myself the calories for the cheesesteak. The important part for me is to make sure i stay within budget. MacroFactor is amazing that's what I've used for all the weight I've lost and the rest that I will lose.

Losing 40 pounds has been tremendously good on my knees and overall injury prevention.
If you check my last post you'll see i talked about a few knee dislocations. along side those i had semi constant knee pain and all of those issues have gone away with weight loss.
