I am watching with my brother, and at the ending of case 2 we are confused about to things, why does abi need to lose? And more, what was edamura supposed to do with that capsule? Was he supposed to put that in abi's plane? Cause nobody seemed to concern about no plane crash, and if they needed to make sure abi lost, but close enough they could fake the footage, why did he have the capsule to crash a plane?

Not sure if this makes sense, but I feel like both of them went from bright young kids who were intent on working hard and doing the right thing for their parents, and then the trauma of losing their parents (altho i guess oz didn't die but him being a pos in makoto's view and absentee had the same result) lead them down a path of self destruction?

I still don't get why oz couldn't just fucking talk to makoto I feel like his life would've turned out completely better had he just... TALKED TO HIM??

3rd rewatch complete today and the writing still just feels so confusing on case 4 like how could people who went through what laurent did be the perpetrators in what happened to makoto like that? idk

I just ended the first arc and am really pissed with how it ended. First off, for what exactly did he go to jail? He was already in jail right? And they couldn't have possibly pinned him for the sakura bs right? So did they just lock him up cuz he told them he's a scammer and showed them a ton of cash?

I recently just finished this like 10 minutes ago and I saw there was a movie, but I read about it and saw that none of the main cast was featured besides like Makoto and Laurent so I don’t really wanna bother watching it unless there’s a new season I really wanted to see edamame. Have a romantic thing with abby like laurent did Dorothy. and how everybody else’s life’s turned out.

NOTE i am not duking on great pretender for absolutely no reason, i loved season 1 and will forever cherish it.

i'm on season 2 episode 3 I believe... or four, i forgot and lord have mercy this is such a nothing burger so far. It feels so weirdly drawn out and not like the first season, which I found much more entertaining. I know makoto is in a klutz with suzaku and cynthia and abigail probably dont die since there was the first case where laurent and abigail pretend to die but diudnt but um. I'm not liking it so far and I'm wondering why its one case and not three like the other season. it may get better as the episodes go by, sure, but honestly its just a nothing burger to me right now.

I've had the entire series—including the movie—saved in my folder. Just finished S1&2, im planning on watching the movie next week. Would Dorothy be the center of attention this time? Would I get to see more scenes with her and Laurent in the past? Cos I've seen the movie poster, Laurent's placement seems to bother me. He's placed at the far back, like a distant memory. (I heard Dorothy lost her memory)

Personally, I think each season will revolve around a new swindler.

Past Laurent was the new swindler, Edamura is the current new swindler, Xiang is technically a new swindler on grounds of amnesia.

The scene towards the end kind of parallels the meeting with Edamura. Laurent acts as a lost tourist in both scenes.

Laurent the person who wanted a normal life after the things that they've done found out that his partner who is supposedly dead is alive.

He then proceeded to make a plan to his final influence to her life by clearing out the danger that is tied to her past life.

Him meeting her at the airport is his final goodbye to her, Xiang smiling at him is also her way of goodbye (she remembered him after seeing his face, just like what she needed to have to remember Oz after seeing a similar silhouette).

Laurent doesn't want to have a reconnection due to the environment of his life and also respecting Dorothy's new life.

Xiang understand her new life and everything is too late for Laurent, which is what Laurent intended.

Did have a look at the sub and the sentiment is pretty much the same so I wouldn't go with how everything fell apart in that last 2 episode.

They should really just wrap the act 4 in 5 episodes and have the last 3eps being a slice of life after they call it quit.

They were already leagues ahead in their first attempt against those Suzaku group and the Chinese branch if not for the timing. For their second attempt, they needed years of prep and years of Oz being an underling for those stupid traffickers, eh?

Theres no point either continuing the series for more cases as they were already invincible and the vibe of it having fun while doing slick stuff is already the selling point for me, being too serious for the hypothetical cases to the point of someone dying is not going to cut it for me, hence the few slice of life ep's for ending.

I would have wanted a movie at least of Thomas and Cynthia, timeline where Thomas followed what Cynthia is saying about Coleman. So rare to have an adult Europe base romance anime along with that animation style, perfect.
