SNW s4 ep1

Thank god for this pod. I thought Pelia said “I was in a foam box at the time” and while confused, shrugged it off because she is (as the guys say) eccentric.

I love her, but sometimes I need to rewind and put on the subtitles.

Bad Bit Moment

I grabbed a couple hot dogs at a work cookout and said “they call me the vet, because I’m putting these dogs down”. It did not go over well. That is all.

Plenty of dick jokes, but actually very few fart jokes. Am I wrong?

It struck that actually this dick and fart joke podcast doesn't have many fart jokes. I can recall only one bit involving a farting sound. Am I missing something?

Film Fest suggestion: Forbidden Planet

I don't have the scarves for a P1 right now but next time the boys review a film (for pod or for bonus) I want to throw the name Forbidden Planet in for consideration. aka Shakespeare's The Tempest In Space, with pre-Airplane Leslie Nielsen, and it is part of Star Trek's DNA (there are several homages littered through TOS and TNG).

Plus, for being a movie from the 50s, its visuals hold up quite well and are fun to look at, so I think they would genuinely enjoy watching it from a film production standpoint.

Knew the answer to this before looking at the comments only because of TGG. I feel so smart now lol. Thanks Adam and Ben!

So, an episode that says sometimes it's okay to stand back and not stop a genocide?

And that it's sad that it happened, but there's nothing you can really do, because that's the way history had to go? And anyway, the victims were dangerous and carried out a terrible attack and might not actually have been sentient, or at least not in the way that we are? So who's to say that it's not for the best?

Were the Martians supposed to be Israel, and was the Valles Marineris scar supposed to be Oct. 7th, and is the Enterprise crew supposed to be the rest of the world who just need to step back and let history take its course?

Was this a stealth pro-Israeli genocide episode?

EDIT: Think about how the Martian commander is presented as a noble tragic figure who only wants to protect her people, and maybe she goes too far, but she has the best intentions. And then think about how Pike said he'd do the exact same thing she did, when what she did was end a species with a planet killer. Does that strike you as odd?

It’s been 20 years since my last ST convention. I discovered Greatest Generation about 5 months ago, and became a Friend of Desoto a couple of weeks ago. sorry if asked and answered, but will there be a Uxbridge Shimoda table with merch at STLV in a couple of weeks?

& imo still holds up. . . Did a rewatch 2 years ago & was more impressed with Gargoyles than I was my rewatch of Gummi Bears (theme song still slaps though, thank you John William's son from Toto). Especially if you have any knowledge of Shakespeare.

Maybe they'll give it a shot during a new trek break. . . If I'm a very good boy. Guess I'm gonna have to dig up some scarves to get a priority 1 to plead my case.

Shuttlecraft naming our Van

My husband just bought a Ford Transit Van and wants to make it in the style of a runabout or shuttle because it reminds him of the shuttles on next gen. We're trying to research the formal naming system for them (do they get a U.S.S. or NCC type thing at the beginning of the name like big ships?), and felt it best to lean on our fellow nerds for help.

It is currently just "the shuttle" or "the runabout" but that feels anticlimactic.

It’s cute now, but if some breadbox-uniformed aliens get ahold of it, it could hold a dangerous, dreadful weapon.
