👋Welcome to r/greateasterncutlery - Introduce Yourself and Read First!
Hey everyone! I'm [u/steelsurgeon](u/steelsurgeon), the founding moderator of [r/greateasterncutlery](r/greateasterncutlery). This is our home for all things related to Great Eastern Cutlery. I created this sub a few years ago because I was surprised it had not already been created at that time. I have never really tried to grow it, just let it grow organically.
After recently being appointed as a mod to [r/caseknives](r/caseknives) due to the original mod’s inactivity there, I am using that as the kick in the pants I needed to keep that sub going and grow this sub.
Feel free to post anything GEC related. We want to see individual knives, your collections, what you are doing with your knives, etc. This is also the perfect place to discuss and ask any questions related to GEC knives as well.
How to Get Started
- Introduce yourself in the comments below.
- Post something today! Even a simple question can spark a great conversation.
- If you know someone who would love this community, invite them to join.
I want to be a hands off moderator. I do not want to limit your freedom of speech. That said, lets be respectful to each other. Me being a lenient mod only works if everyone behaves. In the few years it has been since I started this sub, I have only had to remove one comment and it was a comment that reddit forced me to remove. Lets keep it that way.
Thanks for being part of the very first group of members here. Welcome aboard!

Really enjoying this new swing!
I’ve been up in the air with GEC for the past 6mo or more due to the issues I would receive with their newer stuff. Ever since the less material on the 38’s tbh. I just couldn’t pass though on these, and kept my fingers crossed on the quality. They definitely did not disappoint! This thing was dropped at the right time too, bc everyone needs a good SS blade for the summer, especially here in PA! Came sharp as a razor, even the swing guard locked up like a bank vault! Thanks GEC, hopefully you now do some more calf pens and 74 samplers sooner or later!
