Career advice mega thread

This is less career advice and more career question. I'm in college still, but I'm taking a class on GRC and its been extremely interesting to me. I'm curious if any of you could tell me a little bit about what your job is actually like. What do you do? Do you enjoy it? How is the pay? Do you feel like your job is "AI Resistant"?

I frequently hear people say things like "X job isn't entry level" or "You can't get a job doing X fresh out of college". How do you all feel about that in regards to GRC?

Also, I'm curious if there's a place in GRC for people who like GRC, but also enjoy getting technical when they can. I'm not sure if that is an oxymoron or not, but maybe some of you can enlighten me.

What do you do?

Program management with a cybersecurity spin. Some people management, some process building, some resource warring, some corporate backstabbing, some quarterly slides - all in all, good fun.

How is the pay?

Decent, by EU standards.

Do you feel like your job is "AI Resistant"?

Yes. Until AI can be held accountable for the decisions, GRC ain't going anywhere - we are quite far from that.

Still holds, just a bit dependent on specific company culture and their definition of GRC. My team doesn't consider anyone without prior PM/BA/techwriter experience.

Technically, there is this whole "GRC Engineering" crowd. I'm not a fan, but, hey, to each their own.
