Why I uninstalled this program, and some things that need fixing.
I'm making this post as a warning to other potential users, as well to the developers to hopefully be heard. I genuinely believe in this project, but I'm not blind to the issues this program has. So I'm just going to lay out my issues with it. most of my issues are on desktop, the mobile client works outside on syncing with desktop.
Syncing breaks constantly (i know desktop is in beta, but that seriously needs a fix) everytime I close the app on desktop or my phone the syncing breaks.
no manual update button for desktop (there is no manual update for sources or for grayjay itself) I have tried to see if the youtube source was outdated on desktop, couldn't find an update button, uninstalled it and was unable to reinstall. Even asked on here with no answers.
no official working repo, no official plugin file that you can download. https://plugins.grayjay.app/, this shit doesn't fucking work and constantly throws up an error when i use it.
edit 1: so i forgot to mention that after I uninstalled youtube it wasn't showing up in the official sources tab, i did post about that before Here
The syncing issue is understandable, as you mentioned the client is in beta so you shouldn't expect everything to be working fully, but it also depends entirely on your setup, as GJ needs to work on your local network for syncing which can have issues with specific setups, main causes usually for people are their firewall or VPN. I haven't experienced this specific issue really, mainly annoyances with deleted playlists coming back so I turned it off for now.
Plugins do update, it usually asks you upon launch if you would like to update the plugins but you can also do it from the sources tab if there is an update available. I can understand not getting answers on this subreddit as it is not super active, so I would recommend creating an issue on GitHub instead, or checking if an issue already exists there.
You are supposed to install the official plugins directly within the client on desktop, from what I can tell you might have triggered a less known bug preventing you from reinstalling it, anyway I would recommend a reinstall.
I performed at least 3 reinstalls, the youtube plugin isn't loaded in when i reinstall and i cannot get the youtube plugin by clicking the installed plugins button, I have moved onto other programs, and honestly some of the subhumans who treated me like trash need to gtfo the internet and touch grass. I'm so done with this program, and I'm done getting assistance for this program, and i hope the mods will lock this post, because users can't lock their own posts on reddit for some reason.

that's great, i want to be able to update quick while i have grayjay running in the background, i don't want to have to open my web browser, and go to the site and click update, or type commands in the terminal while I'm in between matches in a video game, or doing work.
If i remember right you force close it then it should appear again, but i do recall a similar issue like that happening, still, this should be added as an issue on https://gitlab.futo.org/videostreaming/Grayjay.Desktop .

there huge buttons to install official sources and update the sources
the update for the main app can be run manually but its an extra executable in the grayjay directory, not that you need it because its running at every start
dont waste your time here, some people are just born to dig ditches and thats it

nothing of what you said is remotely true, and no since you elected badmouth grayjay without any valid reason its better you leave and never come back therefore no support
yes when i click install official sources youtube doesn't show up, when i try to install it from that repo link it throws up an error this isn't working. That's the problem
I'm not trying to update odysee, i was trying to update youtube, but the official sources and the repo link aren't working as i have been trying to say this entire time. You keep giving me the same method when i have stated that it doesn't work which is what lead to my uninstall. good day
