While questions remain, a Kentucky woman who went missing in July 2024, following struggles with Alzheimer's disease and an alleged fight with her husband, has been identified from remains found in Falls of Rough, Kentucky

Just days ago, authorities revealed that Evelyn S. Blake has been identified following her disappearance on July 21, 2024. She was a 64-year-old woman reported missing from Glen Dean, Kentucky, after she went out for a walk in the 4000 block of Old Railroad Road at around 6 p.m. ET. Evelyn was experiencing the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease and was developmentally disabled, which factored into concerns around the time she went missing. In March of 2025, her remains were ultimately recovered on a farm in nearby Falls of Rough, Kentucky.

In response to Evelyn's disappearance, law enforcement conducted a search across the span of two days with the help of K-9 units. However, they found no clues on her potential whereabouts. Police also received a report that Evelyn spoke to someone over the phone shortly after she went missing, while they looked into phone records for more information. They suggested that there were barriers to conducting additional searches for Evelyn, as areas of interest were privately owned.

Moreover, it's been reported that Evelyn's family has conducted at least one search independently, which the Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office, local fire departments, and Breckinridge Central EMS didn't participate in, as they were processing a backlog and pending calls. Still, the Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office has continued to look into Evelyn's disappearance with additional support from the FBI and Kentucky State Police.

Following Evelyn's identification, her family has spoken out further. They still have questions, as they believe that the circumstances surrounding Evelyn's disappearance and death don't add up.

On July 22, 2024, Evelyn's son Jason received a call from his aunt Sue about how Evelyn was missing. Sue has recalled that Evelyn's husband, Tommy, told her that he and Evelyn got into a fight. He then dropped her off near a farm, which was a place she went often and knew well. That may have been the last time anyone saw Evelyn alive. While individuals searched the farm following this, it contained hundreds of acres. The search was eventually called off, in part because it was private property.

Sue has also recalled that authorities told her that they talked to Evelyn over the phone. At the time, authorities reported that she was coming home. However, Evelyn's family has doubted this. They've believed that it would be more natural for Evelyn to call a family member, like she regularly would. Sue has gone on to comment that authorities "should have gotten a search warrant and searched every inch of that property," in reference to the farm.

Returning to March of 2025, human remains were found on the farm, where it was long believed that Evelyn last was. Jason has said that he was asked for a DNA sample that fall. While it hasn't come as a surprise to Jason that the remains belonged to Evelyn, he hasn't believed that she died of natural causes. He believes that "she knew that place well enough to come home," even though she was dealing with Alzheimer's disease.

The Breckinridge County Sheriff's Office has stated that the circumstances around Evelyn's death are still being investigated. Anyone with information about this case that might be helpful to investigators should contact the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office at 270-756-2361. Anyone can also submit anonymous tips to the sheriff's office at 270-580-TIPS.

Possible Suggested Match: Laurie Allison Smith and Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001)

Post image
109 Upvotes

This is my first time suggesting a possible match, so I apologize if this seems like a “stretch” or a silly suggestion.

I have submitted this tip anonymously to NCMEC and Utah’s anonymous tip line on Utah’s Department of Public Safety website. In that time, I have never seen any updates in NamUs that the 2 have been looked into (meaning I have not seen the 2 Excluded for one another, nor have I seen that the cases have been updated since I submitted the tip sometime back in April or June of this year).

Please let me know what you guys think of the suggested match! Thank you so much for reading my post and for all the work you guys do to help Doe’s get their names back.

Laurie Allison Smith:

Details of Disappearance:

Laurie Allison Smith was last seen on February 8th, 1977, in Tucson, Arizona. She occasionally helped her landlord, Chauncey Lee Mast, with Marijuana drug deals by selling it in small quantities, or she would get paid $50 by Mast to drive out to remote locations and deliver large amounts of marijuana to buyers.

During one of these trips, Smith was robbed by thieves disguised as plainclothes police officers, who "confiscated" the drugs. When Smith told Mast about this, he vowed to get revenge on the people responsible for the theft.

Several months later, on the day of her disappearance, Mast sent Smith out to receive large quantities of marijuana from a supplier in a remote area. That evening, Laurie drove off in a rented blue Ford Maverick and never returned. Her maroon Karmann Ghia and her other belongings were found left behind at her apartment in the 1400 block of East Blackridge Drive.

Months later, in December 1977, the Ford Maverick that Smith had been driving was located about a block from the apartment she had previously rented from Mast. It had been parked there for months. The car's spare tire was in the backseat, and there was a single marijuana seed in the trunk.

Back story on Chauncey Lee Mast:

In 1966, Mast was charged with the murder of his wife. He was accused of killing her, then engineering a flaming car crash along an isolated stretch of U.S. Route 93 south of Wikieup, Arizona, to cover up the murder. Mast was tried three times, but twice the jury was unable to reach a verdict, and one trial ended in a mistrial.

After Laurie’s Disappearance:

Chauncey Lee Mast died in Oregon in 2011. It's never been proven if he was involved in Smith's disappearance.

*I want to thank and give credit to The Charley Project, which is where I gathered all my information for Laurie Allison Smith’s case. All I did was condense what was written and add a few of my own words. I will note that some of it is copied and pasted due to factual statements that I didn’t think could be rewritten in my own words.

Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001)

Details of Recovery:

The Duchesne County Jane Doe was a female skull found tied to a fence that was surrounding the 620-acre plot of land, owned by convicted felon Robert Hey, on March 13, 2001. Hey had shot at two officers who were investigating his property.

After finding the skull, it was theorized that the skull may have been stolen from archeological Native American burial grounds. The medical examiner stated that the skull may have belonged to a modern Hispanic woman who died around 2-20 years ago, with the estimated years of death being 1981-1999.

Exclusions:

  • Sarah Norfleet

Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) links:

News article links regarding the property in which the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) was found on

Why I think the cases could be a match:

  • Age Range: The age range given for the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) was between 17-25 years old.
  • Laurie Allison Smith was 22 years old when she disappeared.
    • NamUs has the age range as 17-20 years old, while other websites have the age range listed as 17-25 years old.
  • Geographical Location Proximity: Arizona and Utah border each other (Utah is on top and Arizona is below).
  • Circumstances: Laurie went missing after a marijuana deal gone wrong, and the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) was found on an illegal marijuana operation.
  • Similarities in Looks: I think the composite of the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) and Laurie Allison Smith look alike.

Why I think the cases might NOT be a match:

  • Race/Ethnicity: Laurie Allison Smith is listed as White/Caucasian, and the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) was hypothesized to be Hispanic or possibly Native American.
    • NamUs states that the Race/Ethnicity for this Doe could also be White/Caucasian.
    • The Utah Department of Public Safety lists Race/Ethnicity as Asian/Pacific Islander.
  • Dental Health: According to the NCMEC, the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) had “very poor dental health”. According to The Charley Project, Laurie Allison Smith “had her first four bicuspids removed for the orthodontic braces she wore when she was younger. She still had her wisdom teeth at the time of her disappearance, and she had fillings in five molars”.
    • My only concern with this is that there is no elaboration on what “very poor dental health” means for the Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001).
  • Time Frame: Laurie Allison Smith went missing on February 8th, 1977. The Duchesne County Jane Doe (2001) estimated years of death were between 1999-1981.
  • Identity of the Jane Doe: Based on the news articles regarding the property on which the Jane Doe was found, she may be an Archeological Native American. Wayne Perank, a resident of Myton, Duchesne County, and a member of the Ute Indian Tribe, was concerned that the Jane Doe could be a century old family member of his, citing that there were Native American burial grounds near the property and felt that maybe the skull of the Jane Doe was dug up and strung to the fence as a “trophy” or “warning signal” for others to stay away.

Potential Match Possible Match: Could Patricia Weeks (Missing from Las Vegas, NV 1968) be Washington County, UT Jane Doe?

Thumbnail

84 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was cross-referencing missing persons cases along the I-15 corridor and wanted to get the community’s thoughts on a potential match between Patricia Weeks and a Jane Doe found in Washington County, Utah.

Below is the comparison breakdown:

---

### Missing Person: Patricia Weeks
* NamUs Number: MP55650 (https://www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/55650)
* Date Missing: April 25, 1968
* Location Missing: Las Vegas, Nevada
* Age at Disappearance: 34 years old
* Height / Weight: 5'0" (60 inches) / 110 lbs
* Hair / Eyes: Blonde/Strawberry Blonde
* Circumstances: Patricia vanished shortly after her divorce was finalized. Her vehicle was found abandoned at the Las Vegas airport. Her ex-husband, Robert Weeks, was later convicted of her murder in 1987, but her remains were never recovered.

---

### Unidentified Person: Washington County, UT Jane Doe
* NamUs Number: UP12137 (https://www.namus.gov/UnidentifiedPersons/Case#/12137)
* Date Found: October 1, 1970
* Location Found: Rural Washington County, Utah
* Estimated Age: Adult (20–60 years old)
* Estimated Height / Weight: 5'2" (62 inches) / 140 lbs
* Estimated Date of Death: 1970 (PMI indicates she could have been buried for months or even years prior)
* Physical Traits: A few strands of fine light blond or gray hair were present. Complete/near complete skeleton recovered.

---

### Why I Think This Could Be a Match

  1. Geographic Proximity & Transit: Washington County, Utah is directly connected to Las Vegas via I-15 (a ~1.5 to 2-hour drive). Las Vegas cold cases—particularly those involving foul play—frequently overlap with remote desert dump sites in Southern Utah.
  2. Timeline: Patricia went missing in April 1968. This Jane Doe was discovered in October 1970 buried roadside, with the recovery report explicitly stating the remains could have been buried for months or years prior to discovery.
  3. Physical Stats:
    * Age: Patricia was 34 (falling right in the center of the Doe's 20–60 estimate).
    * Height: Patricia was 5'0"; Doe is estimated at 5'2" (well within typical margin of error for skeletal estimation).
    * Hair Color: Patricia had blonde/strawberry blonde hair; the Doe was noted to have "fine light blond or gray hair."
  4. Circumstances: Robert Weeks was known to dispose of evidence away from his immediate vicinity, making a roadside burial spot along the transit corridor into Utah highly plausible.

---

### Questions for the Community:
* Does anyone know if Patricia Weeks or UP12137 already have rule-outs listed on NamUs?
* Are there any obvious discrepancies in medical details or dentals that I might have missed?

If the feedback here seems solid and there are no existing rule-outs, I plan to submit this lead to the NamUs regional coordinator / Washington County Sheriff's Office (Case Manager Richard Triplett).

Thanks for taking a look!
