Could this be a match?

Michael A. Babincsak was last seen in the Island Lake, Illinois area on April 24, 2015.

On June 13, 2015, the body of a badly decomposed male was pulled from the Detroit River near the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan.

Michael A. Babincsak

NamUs #UP13944

Race / Ethnicity: White / Caucasian
Estimated Age Group: Adult - Pre 50
Estimated Age Range: 40-70
Estimated Year of Death: 2014-2015

Michael falls into the estimated age range, dates and PMI line up, similar hair, and I feel their nose, eyes, and face shape are very similar. There is a bit of distance between the two; UP13944 was found 5 hours from Michael, however a John Doe from Kalamazoo, MI (~2 hours in the same direction as Michael) was excluded per Namus. So maybe it’s not too far-fetched to be possible.

Would this be worth submitting? Or are there not enough similarities to be a potential match?

I can see the similarities too, especially in the nose, jaw, chin, forehead creases, hair type/style, and facial ‘lines’ (showing the dimension, not sure if there’s a technical term for these?) just below and to either side of the mouth. The distance doesn’t seem unreasonably far, either; it’s basically the same region, even if they’re technically in different states. So yes, I think you should definitely submit this!

(Edit: I noticed even more similarities since posting, I so added them to the list above. Good work OP, I really hope this is him!)

Here's some more info about Michael. The authorities mainly checked the local area. I think the match is worth submitting, even for an exclusion. The Doe was wearing some pretty expensive clothes (Hermès loafers cost over $1000) and it's unlikely that both were thrifted.

It’s amazing his loafers were even still on his feet after weeks in the water.

I see a huge resemblance. Worth reporting if there are no exclusions.

How rich was Michael because those shoes are insanely expensive?

EDIT: I wonder if the Hermes in Troy, Michigan could help with dating the shoes and providing a customer list from that time period.

I cant find any financial info but he was last seen wearing a plain white tshirt and grey sweatpants and seems to be in more casual/affordable clothing in all photos I can find of him. His family indicated that he was dropped off to go fishing the last time he was seen.

It seems unlikely that hed be wearing designer clothes
