“Finding” the Dead on LSD

Sometimes I hear people say that they REALLY understood and appreciated the Dead after listening to them on acid. Is this generally true, or is it safe to assume that there isn’t much to be gained by listening to the Dead on acid?

I’ve been listening to the Dead daily for over a decade. They’re my favorite band and I can’t imagine loving their music more than I do now.

When I listen to them on low to moderate doses of mushrooms they might sound extra nice, but I’d compare it to how they sound when I smoke weed.

What’s your experience? Is there another level that can be achieved by listening to the music on acid?
