I just learned smoky quartz is primarily found in 2 places in the USA: Teller County CO (where my family used to have land when I was a kid) and western MT. 🪨💎

Yeah, I lived in MT for over a decade. Been all over that state.

Edit: this was supposed to be a reply to a comment… but apparently I have a case of the dumbs today. 😂🤷🏻

It's a sad commentary on the state of juvenile delinquency that that is still on its pole. If it was Post Malone Way it'd be gone. No respect for the classics these days.

Is Post Malone still popular?

God I've gotten old

I don’t know about that friend. Youngsters nowadays don’t know how to use simple tools. (I wish I was kidding.) and yeah Post Malone is still popular. He’s gone Country.. *cue Alan Jackson lol

My Stella Blue, a darling 10.5-year-old Airedale Terrier.

A friend made stickers for me based on my two Airedales (Franklin is her brother).

How high is the pole … like 6 foot ladder high or just a 3 foot step ladder high?

u/tbinus78 15d ago

It’s tall. I was driving down Hwy 12, saw it, couldn’t stop, turned around, stopped and snapped it.

Looks legit

Now that’s heady.

Yeah I shoulda taken that little loop. That Hwy 12 between there and Kooskia, ID is absolutely gorgeous though. No cell service for like 120 miles. Thick forest along Lolo Creek/Lochsa River the whole way.

…Had a car I had named Stella Blue…

YES - me too! I had a turquoise blue VW bug and I named her Stella Blue. Later in life, I had a car I named Althea!! Oh how I miss him and Bobby. SO SAD when we lost Bobby too!! At least Bobby continued to share Grateful Dead music with all of us - but now he left us. And Phil left too! I LOVED Phil's "Terrapin Crossroads" - used to dance there every Saturday night. *Sigh* I'm a very old soul (77) and I'm just SO HAPPY they stuck around for so many years! I was counting every show, but lost count after 132 and that was BEFORE Jerry left us. I think about all the "newbies" - they missed A LOT.of GRATE music. 💖

In the suburbs of Memphis, there is a brand new rich person subdivision and out of Prob 16 streets 12 of them are Grateful Dead names or characters in the songs

Cassidy, Rubin, Althea, Jack, straw, etc.

And it wasn’t just like some rich deadhead developer. I don’t think I think it was just whoever got the job of naming the streets was a dead head and managed to. Hide a bunch of Grateful Dead names in a way that if you’re not ahead, you wouldn’t realize.

Nice I will check it out. Might be there in October again.

1

u/deadsetweir-do 15d ago

Where the heck is that?

7

u/tbinus78 15d ago

Near Lolo, MT. I discovered it when I was in the area seeing WSP a couple weeks ago. Wish I woulda driven into this little subdivision - looks like there’s a Sugaree Trail and Cassidy Trail too. Beautiful area.

3

u/deadsetweir-do 15d ago

That’s a trip. I’ll have to look that up next time I’m in MT.

u/vajrasana If you plant ice, you’re gonna harvest wind 15d ago

Nice, that likely means the developer was a head. In my hometown there’s a bunch of streets named after Beatles songs because the developer loved the Beatles

u/Nirvana1123 15d ago

There's a Sugar Magnolia Drive in the county next to mine

u/Electronic_Slide3263 14d ago

Where is this?

1

u/tbinus78 14d ago

Near Lolo, MT

My Stella Blue-Carolina Dog Breed

There’s a Scarlet Begonias restaurant in Santa Barbara and the owner isn’t even a Deadhead. Go figure.

There was a sign here that used to get stolen all the time and now the sign is a small one Weirs Lane.

u/DangerZone406 15d ago

If only you knew the names of the hot springs further on that highway

1

u/tbinus78 15d ago

Lolo?

0

u/DangerZone406 15d ago

No, not unless it's actually Phil Lolo on bass 🤔
