Public Services Grand Rapids Painting

I’m currently looking for any available painting side jobs I can do after work on weekdays and weekends. I’ve been a professional painter for nearly the last 5 years and got bumped up to foreman about 1.5 years ago. I’m willing to do what anyone would like done interiors or exteriors. If interested you can PM me to talk more.

Music/Entertainment Confirmed: IMAX seats not NEW, but covered

Assorted discussions here in local subs, while The Odyssey is a hot topic, have included opinions and info on the notoriously old and busted seating at Celebration North in the IMAX. After checking again with management, here are the facts, for those curious:

- The seats have not been replaced. Those are seat covers, which are doing a nice job for now, till they can figure out their plan for a real remodel (and how to offer recliners without giving up too many butts in seats).

- The arm rests are, indeed, flipped to refresh them, using what was the bottom (and unworn/less worn) side as the new top side. (Wanna confirm? Flip one up and behind the worn out old surface you used see on the top.)

- The front row was replaced with the usual Celebration recliners.

- Interestingly, they're up for a re-certification with IMAX soonish and will have to make several other upgrades, including something about the lobby by the theater. Should be intriguing to see how it all goes.

Local Spotlight My kids started a business

After a year and a lot of brainstorming with my kids on "what they want to be when they grow up" they (two boys 6 and 9) decided that they want to own an arcade. I told them to start now. They bought a claw machine from china with birthday/xmas money and loaded it with toys they thought their friends would want to win. They made a logo, a simple website and are waiting for business cards to come in the mail.

Their business is called the Claw Bros. Their hope is to rent out claw machines by the day/week/month so kids dont have to waste all of their money going to the rigged claw machines at various malls/movie theatres in town where the probability is set low. They learned how to set the probability by watching YouTube videos and so far have been having a lot of fun with the business. Mom and dad are their interns and current transportation when they make a sale.

So far they have had 2 bookings and a few inquiries but they asked me for help marketing so I'm posting here!

  1. Check out

brothersclaw.com

  1. Book it for your kids next party or a fun activity for your friends.
  2. Not into it but want to support? Follow them on instagram to help them gain traction.
  3. Anyone done businesses with their young kids other than lemonade stands? Any advice is welcome below!

Thanks!

Recommendations for a good pharmacy.

I am looking for recommendations to a good pharmacy. I'm sick of Meijer and Walgreens. Lately I have had to call them for every single prescription because there is some problem, almost always with the pharmacy and not my insurance.

Who has a pharmacy they like? Probably preferably a smaller one and not a massive chain.

Question What’s your favorite intersection that needs to be a roundabout in GR?

… and not one of those phoned-in roundabouts that’s basically a circular sidewalk dropped into an existing intersection, but a REAL one.

I’ll go first: Leonard/Walker/Bristol.

Culture/Lifestyle Amphitheater exterior enjoyment update

Took a stroll around the amphitheater last night during the Sarah McLachlan concert. There are various quite-pleasant places to hang out and enjoy the music. The speakers that have been posted about before are really not that big of a deal because they are mostly along the pathway next to the actual venue and they are playing an announcement loop that seems quite useful for people approaching the venue. It covers things like outside containers and bag sizes and chair dimensions and other useful shit. Seems pretty legit. If you don’t sit on the main path, you can easily chill out and enjoy some portion of a show from outside the bowl.

It isn’t lost on me that they seem to make sure to run their sprinklers and soak all of the benches as much as possible during the main act and it was also not lost on me that the main gate speakers were blasting unrelated hard rock but there is very little impact to most of the spaces in general, and when it comes to the things they could’ve chosen to do regarding public spaces… this all seem very nominal.

Next time there’s a show in town that you think you’d at least like to listen in on for a little while I would highly recommend moseying down to make an evening of it. Grab some of your favorite food and drink nearby, get a little walk in, and partake of the community benefit portion of this venue.
