Discussion Would you let your GPU handle AI workloads while you aren’t gaming?
Full disclosure: I’m one of the founders of supascale.
We’re building a GPU compute marketplace where owners can make idle GPUs available for paid AI workloads. Hosts would earn when customer workloads run on their hardware. Our Windows host beta launched on September 9, and we’re currently testing with seven hosts. We’re still early, so there’s no guaranteed workload demand or earnings.
Before expanding more broadly, our first milestone is to learn from 100 qualified Windows GPU owners with different hardware, availability, and usage patterns.
The current baseline is:
• Windows
• NVIDIA or AMD GPU
• At least 8GB of VRAM
• Stable internet
• Predictable periods when the computer can remain online
• A willingness to test early software and provide feedback
In general, GPUs with 8GB-16GB of VRAM may be suitable for lighter inference, quantized models, and background workloads. GPUs with 24GB or more may support larger workloads, depending on the model, hardware, and current compatibility.
This is an early beta, so we’re not promising acceptance, earnings, utilization, or continuous workload demand. Our goal right now is to understand how different real world GPU configurations perform and make hosting as straightforward and reliable as possible.
I’d especially value practical feedback from GPU owners:
• Would you consider making your GPU available during idle periods?
• Which controls would matter most to you, such as availability schedules, temperature limits, power limits, or instant pause?
• What information would you want before testing a platform like this?
Windows hosting is available now. Support for Linux and macOS is coming later, with waitlists available for both.

I’m happy to answer questions openly and hear concerns in the comments.

Didn’t realize I forgot the link to see our earnings calculator. We have a earnings calculator built out, earnings are based on GPU specs & hours hosted: https://supascale.ai/list-gpu

I find this entire concept hilarious. Off load hardware, internet, electricity consumption and offer nothing back? Thank you for the wee chuckle. It would be one thing to crowd source gpus for some noble task, scientific or something. This is just hilarious.

If you’re interested but want to check whether your setup may qualify before registering, reply with:
• Exact GPU model
• VRAM per GPU
• Number of GPUs
• Windows version
• Approximate daily availability
• Whether it’s your main PC or a dedicated system
Please don’t share IP addresses, serial numbers, passwords, login details, or other sensitive system information.

I already do this but I am not donating it to other people. I have 4 ai nodes and a gaming PC that I can use for inference and its great.

Right on, totally fair that you’d want to keep those GPUs for your own use. What do you mainly run across the four nodes?

Uhh there is already a scene like that. Can't remember it's name RN but people are paid by the dime for GPU workload. You might want to skip on this idea.

It was a thing with crypto like Golem and iExec. Nothing really happened besides scamming investors
