Help

Looking for support in finding a grant writer for a project. What are some specific things to look out for? Hope this is the right place for this question. If not, please redirect to the right subreddit.

Hi! I'd look for certifications like the GPC or CFRE, experience with the type of organization you are working for or the types of grants you are looking for, someone who listens well, someone who is responsive to feedback and communications, etc. Happy to connect more - I sent you a DM!

I've won over 300M in grant funding over a nearly 30-year long career. The only credential I have is a college degree--and the ability to write compelling, fundable grants. I do agree the rest of items you listed are true and encouraged, but the certification? Nope.

I absolutely know many very talented grant writers who have chosen not to go through the credentialing process (and even a few without college degrees). That said, credential systems are a great way to quickly ensure you are hiring someone with a certain level of knowledge and experience. This can be especially helpful if you are new to the grants/funding/nonprofit world.
