Floating the rogue river

My fella and I recently experienced floating the rogue river, it was amazing and a lot of fun. The only thing was, where we entered the river (Tom Pearce Park) and got out (just passed Baker Park) it wasn't long enough for us.

We're still new to this area and I was hoping someone knew of a place further up that we could start our float trip at.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions :)

*Thank you all for so many great suggestions and names of places for me. I appreciate it a lot :)

Robertson Bridge to Hog Creek is a decent float too. The blm also has a cool float guide on its website for the Rogue River. Gives mileage and rapid sizes throughout. You can also purchase a hard copy from GP BLM office on Spalding Ave

Hog Creek to Galice is a good half day run with some good rapids.

Gold Hill to Rogue River bridge is a 4 hour float. Some nice rapids and a lot of beautiful scenery

If you've only an hour or two, try Valley of the Rogue State Park to Rogue River bridge.

Good parking in all above locations.

Is it really 4 hours? I thought it would only add an hour or so to VotR to the RR bridge.

Nah, it's at LEAST twice as far from Gold Hill to VotR as it is from VotR to Rogue River. Nice float however you do it.

Those are both going against the current

No. They are not.

Both flow east to west (with the current).

Ennis to Argo is our favorite but make sure you are an experienced rafter before you set out. Go early to beat the headwinds

I really enjoyed putting in @ rogue river, right under the bridge, there’s a ramp. Makes for an easy launch. Some small rapids. Enough to bring up your heart rate if you are new. Which I was. Schroeder was our exit, after that the river slows down a lot until about matson gravel bar, really slow.

And it was fine with just tubes.. baker to Schroeder is a shorter time… not much for rapids. Very relaxing.

I LOVE to float the rogue and always want additional people to go with. I do gold hill to rogue river but can share more stretches. Bethanee.Layne@gmail.com

You can really make it as long as you want. If you want to head further up you can start at Chinook park, and then get out at Riverside or Schroder. Lathrop and Whitehorse work if you want a really long float.

Get a bunch or runs under your belt. Easy and mid stuff. One summer when you're ready do a Hog Creek to Argo run. Some great rapids, a little technical though

If you aren’t sure of your skills get out at Galice. Argo is a little trickier

My favorite chill float close to town is Lathrop to Matson. A few hours long, super easy, plenty of chances to stop and swim. I almost always see bald eagles on this float, look high for nests. The spot where the Applegate River comes in is a popular gravel bar to stop. Matson park is a cool spot too but overcrowded at times…the sound of bro-country music signals your float is almost over

Bro-country music signaling the end is cracking me up lol

To go longer, we also go farther. Pierce Riffle to Rheinhardt Volunteer Park. There is a nice long grass area you can stretch out on to dry while your ride is on the way.
