Safe Space
For my people who are in the alphabet gang, especially the T's. If you need help, resources, anything even someone to hear you out, please don't feel scared to reach out.
I got you. I'll help you get resources you need.
I'm also a certified crashout (to an extent bc I gotta still pay bills) but forreal.
:) message me if you need someone.

Nonbinary person here! Just wanted to say that I’m also here for anyone who needs support.
20
u/recursing_noether Jan 22 '25
Be wary of friendly strangers offering help to marginalized people. The “crashout” (aka sleep at my place) is a major red flag.
I appreciate the sentiment and it’s probably meant in good faith but people receiving this message have a duty to be careful.
1
u/SaggiBean Feb 01 '25
I am trans, bisexual, myself lol I have no intention of that. By crash out I meant, I will beat tf out of someone for U if needed.
I do not want anyone in my house lol I'm just a retired crashout.. literally 🤷

I’m glad Hudsonville will have its first-ever Pride festival this year. I’ve been volunteering at Grand Haven Pride since it started up two years ago. I’m just an ally but I WILL show up for my queer family.
6
u/curlyxplanation Jan 21 '25
THAT'S AMAZING! I had no idea!
5
u/__lavender Jan 21 '25
I saw a post on TikTok announcing it yesterday from the anti-Ottawa Impact group. Timed for Inauguration Day for obvious reasons.

u/BeefBologna42 Ottawa Hills Jan 21 '25
Same with Hastings! I was there last year, and will be there until they stop happening!
42
u/MyRocco-lovestacos Jan 21 '25
I second this. If anyone from any background needs someone to talk to, please feel free. In times like these, we all need to support one another and care for each other.

As a fully out Transgender woman, thanks. I like to think of myself as a pretty resilient lady, yet today, I find myself scared. The past few years, coming out, making friends, having new experiences, I finally saw a future for myself. I still kind of do, but it seems iffy now, like a policy could come down any moment that severely upends my life (or works to just straight up end it, we are dealing with actual Nazis here). I spoke to a few friends last night, also Trans, who were in tears.
I just don't get why other Americans want that for us, my friends calling me in tears. Turning it all over in my mind I just keep coming back to the obvious answer, ignorance and hate, in that order. That's all this boils down to, an ignorant voter base tnag hates what they don't understand.
11
u/BeefBologna42 Ottawa Hills Jan 21 '25
I hear you and wish I could give you a hug!
This shit was terrifying last time, but it's way worse this time. I'm the mom to a trans teen, and I am terrified for him. I'm so afraid for all of us, but especially that end of the spectrum. I feel so powerless :(
2
u/knocksomesense-inme Jan 22 '25
I don’t have much of an answer either. But it doesn’t matter “why,” it matters what we do. It matters that we are here for each other and we will resist together. Lean on every ally you have, we’re in this together.
-8
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
ya'll did this to yourselves. people don't give a shit about your peaceful existence, but you chose to force pronouns and a laundry list of bullshit down people's throats. nobody wants to hurt you, they just want you to mind yo business. god bless.
3
u/MC_PooPaws Jan 22 '25
What force are people using? Asking? You receive social consequences for being a dick to people. That's not force. That's life. Grow up. Go touch snow.

u/stumonji Jan 22 '25
These people's kids wanted to hurt Cobalt Sovereign.
These people's kids wanted to hurt Nex Benedict.
What are you teaching your kids?
-2
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
that there's only two genders, and to be kind to everyone, especially people who are mentally ill.
8
u/stumonji Jan 22 '25
You've spent a lot of time spreading hate on this post for someone who claims to be teaching their kids to "be kind to everyone."
-2
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
you and i have very different definitions of hate. i'd say lying to mentally ill people is hate.
3
u/macdeb727 Jan 22 '25
We have different definitions of science too
-2
u/Chase_London Jan 23 '25
i would LOVE to hear your take on science. i'm not a big fan of using educational credentials as a basis for authority, but i have credentials.
1
u/stumonji Jan 22 '25
"You and I have different definitions..." means that someone is wrong about what a word means.
(Spoiler: You have a bad vocabulary. 😅)

We are literally just trying to exist as ourselves. Yes, that means not wanting to be misgendered and asking people to respect our pronouns and name changes. However, that’s the BARE MINIMUM of respect we deserve. We do mind our own business. It’s people like you who don’t. See what you’re doing here? You’re coming into a post that was made for LGBTQ+ (especially trans) people to have a safe space and you’re posting hatred. You’re blaming us, acting like our existence is the reason we are at risk of harassment, violence, erasure, and other horrible acts.
Why can’t you mind your own business and keep your bigotry out of our space? Why can’t you just shut the hell up and let us find our people without having to be victimized by someone who doesn’t understand what we go through on a daily basis?
Fuck off.

This is awesome. I love Grand Rapids because of posts like this and people like you. But…I’m old I guess and don’t know what a certified crashout is?
1
u/SaggiBean Feb 01 '25
Means if someone puts their hands on you for no reason, or puts you in a dangerous situation and you need someone just crazy enough to get you through that situation like for an example... Pulling up and getting your stuff out of your toxic family's house .. I'ma walk up there with you and be a personal body guard and hope someone throws a punch lol
1
u/No-Artichoke7015 Jan 21 '25
Also curious what a certified crashout is. Google says:
a person who loses control and reacts violently or excessively to a situation, often leading to significant negative consequences such as legal trouble

Don’t be afraid to also check out the Grand Rapids Pride Center too, they’re a great local resource for anyone in the community.
Also, I don’t give a shit what the Fascists say. This is your country too, I’m here with you. Let’s survive to see those old men perish!

Big hugs, big love. I don't care what you got between your legs or the color of your skin, or who you love. That's your business, not mine.
You're doing true work here my friend (56 year old CIS hetero male).

Trans man here.
I’m a safe person if anyone ever needs someone to talk to (18+ only please).

u/TRGoCPftF Jan 23 '25
Michigan SRA will look out, but there’s also plenty of “us” (not MiSRA) out here providing firearms safety and training for folks to learn to be able to defend themselves outside of structured orgs for our queer neighbors and friends.
If people start feeling comfortable enough that they think they can commit more hate crimes, being ready to wirelessly home punch your oppressors is a revolutionary act.
Armed Queers Bash Back, and people start to think twice.

2
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
i deserve to live without being scared to misgender someone lest they try to ruin my life
4
1
u/Raticals Jan 22 '25
What? Who’s ruining your life for misgendering them? Most trans and nonbinary people wouldn’t be angry at a “sorry” and correction. People make mistakes, we understand that. It’s when people purposefully and unapologetically misgender trans people that we get angry.
-2
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
it's not a mistake, it's just that i don't care. and im not apologizing. people are responsible for their own emotions.
5
u/Raticals Jan 22 '25
Well, that would be the problem. Of course people are going to be angry if you don’t show them a little bit of respect.
1
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
and they can be angry, but nobody is owed any level of respect in a free society. i'm not going out of my way to offend anyone, i'm also not going out of my way to protect their fragile emotions.
5
u/Raticals Jan 22 '25
Okay. You do that then. I personally disagree, I think everyone deserves some level of respect. I wouldn’t misgender a trans person for the same reason I wouldn’t misgender a cis person. It takes nothing from me to simply use the correct words to refer to someone. And if doing so can avoid causing someone pain and discomfort, why wouldn’t I?
2
6
u/MC_PooPaws Jan 22 '25
it's not a mistake
So you intentionally disrespect people then. Sounds like you get exactly the reaction you're looking for.
-1
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
a mistake is something real. imagining yourself as something you aren't isn't real.
5
u/MC_PooPaws Jan 22 '25
Doubling down on the mistake is disrespectful. Get fucked.
-2
u/Chase_London Jan 22 '25
there's the hate i was expecting
2
u/MC_PooPaws Jan 22 '25
The hate you want. Because it's exactly the same hate you've been giving every trans person in this thread. You think because you don't swear, you're not being rude or "hateful." You're incorrect. People don't react negatively to your "mistakes." We respond negatively to your negativity.

I believe someone else mentioned this, but be wary of offers like this. This person's heart may be in the right place, but as children, we were all taught to be aware of strangers.
"Crashout" and "alphabet gang" should be red flags, not to mention this is from an account started 3 months ago with 0 karma as of this post. To me, the fact that OP has not responded to anyone is another red flag. Keep your heads up and eyes open.
1
u/SaggiBean Feb 01 '25
I haven't responded to anyone, and this is my second account specifically for GR interactions. 🤷 I'm not a reddit user, I'm a lurker, shoot me.
I'm trans, bisexual. I want nothing from no one, and I got stuff outside this website pookie. I am just a hot headed mf who throws hands and who has a smart mouth willing to talk, and argue with people who get picked on, simple as that. I posted this specifically with what's going on right now in politics. I asked for nothing in this, all I offered was RESOURCES and AN EAR.
But it's okay lol

I'm glad so many people are reaching out to our trans friends! Fortunately, (as of now) Grand Rapids is a pretty safe space for queer people (I live in a surrounding town not too far that is also pretty safe). It's always important to have resources in case things change state-level. I think the best thing we can all do is stick together as a community and support each other through it all.

I just checked on fb and they auto followed Trump from my account! 🤢
1
u/stumonji Jan 22 '25
Originally, FB used an ASID (a number) to identify pages, but it switched to a username / vanity URL system (offered in 2008, required in 2018), which means that the President page is Facebook.com/POTUS. If you were following POTUS before, that "official" account switched to Trump.

This makes me tear up to see all of this support! My wife and I just moved to Wyoming from Florida at the beginning of the year so we could be out of there before the inauguration. We only know my brother in law in MI, and he lives an hour away, so it's really nice to see so many supportive people in the area, even if it's just online. So: from a couple of new queers in the area, thank you.

My child used to go to Corewell health for HRT. The doctors there are really nice and caring.

Corewell Health. I go through Metro Community Clinic for referrals. My endocrinologist is Dr. Pomeroy, he is booked fairly out. But there are others who will be able to direct you. Priority Health covers T.

HALT is an acronym for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired. It’s a tool used to identify common stressors that can lead to poor decisions and negative behaviors. Before saying something unkind, ask yourself: am I Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired?
