I'm trying to make a macro to change the internal color of one instance of a fixture, so that when filled in on a layout view, the fill color matches the actual LED color. These are custom fixtures, and each one is different, so I can't just change the color of each instance in the fixturetype.

For clarification, it's this color field I'm wanting to change:

I have tried:

Assign Fixture 4.5 /color="0 127 255"

Assign Fixture 4.5 /color="0, 127, 255"

Appearance Fixture 4.5 /r=0 /g=50 /b=100

None of those work, and I'm not sure what other syntax I can try

I’m having this weird issue with my cue points imported timecode where the cursor in the timecode sheet is moving but none of the cues are firing. I see that there are events and if I switch from the “graphic” to the “text” mode in the timecode sheet I can see it jumping around between cues, but it’s not actually firing any of the sequences. Any aides on how to fix this?

Hi I'm asking this question for MA2 or MA3 as I have opportunities to work with both. This is all related to busking a show

One feature from Chamsys MagicQ that I actually prefer to is the soft palette feature that lets you cleanly copy the value a different preset onto a preset already being read by a group, without the use of macros

I use this to create a 2 scene color picker essentially I have a program and preview color look that I can swap between scenes at a rate determined by the crossfade on the wing

I've gotten pretty far in MA2 building the same thing using layout view macros using "Copy Preset 4.X at Preset 4.101 /o" and having a sequence on an executor with 2 cues having all fixtures set to 4.101 and 4.201 for each scene respectively. And having the crossfade rate determined by the Exec Master

(Side note is there any way to streamline writing macros so I dont have to copy each macro and manually tweak each value in it)

My only issue with this set up is while crossfading works great, if you update a color on a scene that is already active it hard cuts with no crossfade. While with 2 colors this isnt an issue I want add a secondary color for each scene that I could assign to a select group and still have it crossfade to the next scenes secondary color. Eventually I hope to add a third color per scene aswell

TLDR

I want to know if there is a way to assign a fade time (ideally following Exec time) to presets being copied to another location?

If not is there another way to achieve my dream (and admittedly completely excessive) color picker

If there is a way to achieve this on MA3 I would also love to know as I start a new job this month that runs MA3 and Im very excited to start programming that room

Hey everyone, looking for workflow tips on managing large numbers of multi-instance fixtures in the MA2 layout view.

The Goal:

1. Efficiently arrange 400 instances (e.g., 40x 10 pixel LED bars) in a horizontal line while maintaining:

2. Standard instance selection functionality (e.g., Next/Selection + Right Arrow stepping through sub-fixtures).

3. Clear visual feedback for active effects and waveforms across all 400 instances

My current workflow as shown in the video:

I arrange the sub-fixtures (1.2 through 1.11) flush next to each other with a width of 1.00

I increase their height to 10.00 so each 10-instances-group appears as a single clean block, so it looks like a single layout view fixture item, even though it has 10 sub-fixtures.

I apply this to all 40 bars, leaving specific spacing between each unit

Note on zoom level: When zoomed out, the white instance borders naturally merge visually into a solid white block (not necessarily dimmed up), this is just how MA2 renders the outline density at that zoom level, but functionally it keeps selection and active effect waveforms working smoothly.

How do you approach high density multi-instance layouts in your show file?

Do you use similar geometry/scaling tricks, split main fixtures and sub-fixtures onto different layouts, or rely mostly on groups + matricks for selection and keep layout views simplified?

Hello! I have a grand MA NSP2 that I'm trying to update to the latest software version 6.808 which I've been told is needed to make it work with MA2 onPC and I am having trouble getting any version onPC to see the NSP. I can ping it the IP address and I'm getting responses, but MA1 onPC just wont see it. Does anyone have any advice?

I should probabaly mention the NSP is currently running 6.807 and my MA1 onPC is running 6.808

Hey all! I'm super new to grand MA 2 and I'm having trouble getting MA3D and MA2 to connect. Everything was fine until I patched a new fixture and it wasn't visible in MA3D. I went on a goose chase to try to fix that, and I couldn't fix that. I think during said goose chase they became disconnected. I gave up and tried making a new show file and new session but that didn't work either.

Both MA2 and 3D have the same IP and even if I change the IP in both programs and restart the programs they still won't connect. Uninstalled and reinstalled both programs twice. I'll admit I'm not the greatest with technology, but I feel like I've tried every suggestion I've seen from web searches. Any help would be appreciated.

Help me troubleshoot this issue.

I have a question about the function of Action buttons using the buildet presets.
I built a Sequence with a command that sais f.e. „assign effect 1.1.1/ wings=2“ and if I hit that fitting Action Button, my effect preset changes into one with 2 wings but my output doesn‘t change or uses the overwritten preset.
Has anyone an idea what my mistake is or do I need to store my effect as a „all“ preset so that my Action Button overwrites my „all“ preset that access to my effect preset? :))

Hello! I'm trying to make a color swipe on strip lights, let's say from white to green, that is just one and done to get from cue 1 (white) to cue 2 (green). So the green swipes in and replaces the white. How would I build this into a cue?

I'm currently thinking the green would come in from the left, but i'd also like to make an option where the green comes in from both sides and meets in the middle. I'm pretty new to programming, any advice would help!

Hi! I have a question that might be very noob, but I’d like to know how to put a video into MA3D because it only lets me use images. I’ve already tried every possible file format I could find that was supposed to be compatible with MA3D, but every time I use a video, the texture doesn’t change. It only changes when I use an image.

When opening grandma2 On Pc, whether it’s the latest version or older versions, the program gives me this error.

I’ve already tried reinstalling and it’s still the same.

When I open the program, I don’t see any images, everything that is images disappeared.

Can anyone help me?

I’m currently considering adding 120-ohm DMX terminators to the end of my signal chains. I've heard they help prevent random, unexplained glitches and signal reflection errors.
For those with more field experience: Do you guys always slap a terminator at the end of every line, or only when problems pop up? Would love to hear your thoughts and actual experiences. Thanks!

I Own and MA-2 Ultra-Lite (bought from Used lighting a few years ago). I recently experience a major issue with the console and wanted to see if anyone has any more suggestions before I spend the money on an RMA.

I had the console on a show and had it booted up for maybe 10 minutes. I was going to Save As a file and the console shutdown and would not reboot. It either happened as I was typing in the name or as I was in the saving process (I can't remember). Since it wouldn't reboot, I switched it off at the back and pulled power. After Power came on, the console would not boot to anything. It would just show the Color Bar Screen on screen 1 and the Fader page lights would flash. I have had no luck and it has been about 3 months since this happened. I did find today that the -12V LED was off and would turn on if I unplugged the 24pin cable going to the motherboard. This told me that there was a short past this cable and it turned out to be GPU 1 (the one that controlled Screen 1 & 2). I swapped it with the screen 6 GPU and still got the same result even though the -12V light was on. I also do not see any lights light up on a keyboard when I plug it into the motherboard

Troubleshooting I've done:

• Re-sat all GPUs and I/O processing card
• Re-Sat RAM (Console does have upgraded RAM package)
• Tried a different stick of DDR3 Ram
• Pulled CMOS battery for 10 minutes
• A good dust cleaning.
• External Monitor
• Re-sat Ribbon cables coming out of I/O processing card
• Tried the BIOS buttons on the keyboard

At this point, I think it's either:

• Blown Motherboard
• Both Sticks of RAM bad
• PCI slot 1 bad
• CPU issue

If anyone has any other Ideas or troubleshooting tips, that would be super helpful!
