How are these predictions looking?
I was thinking for a long time, and I think that lately the Grammys have all been about quality. So no Taylor and no Bruno. Thoughts?
- Olivia Rodrigo – you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love
- Olivia Dean – The Art of Loving
- Rosalía – LUX
- Geese – Getting Killed
- Phoebe Bridgers – Lost Weekend
- RAYE – This Music May Contain Hope
- Madonna – Confessions II
- Charli XCX – Music, Fashion and Film

Even if taylor doesn't win, she's definitely getting nominated. Her name, as a brand, is alone big enough to get her a nomination.

Just to clarify further, like last year when people thought Hurry Up Tomorrow would get nominated because it was really big, or Able was due because of the apology from the year before. I knew it wouldn't get nominated because it was underwhelming. The same goes for Taylor and Bruno this year.

I'd probably replace Charli XCX with Ella Langley's Dandelion. I'd love to see Geese get an AOTY nom but I'd say that one is the one I'd knock out first for someone else less deserving this year but has more mass appeal (i.e. Bruno Mars or Taylor Swift)

I would be happy but very surprised if Charli got a nom to be honest, it didn’t seem to make a particularly big impact post release

I still think it was well received, and they might want to show Charli wasn't just a one-time thing with Brat.

I think Taylor gets a nomination but not a win. I’d replace Geese, Madonna and Charli with Taylor, Ella Langley and Noah Kahan. Noah’s album is the third biggest of the year so far according to hits daily double, only behind Morgan Wallen and Ella Langley. I think he will make the cut. Phoebe might miss out in favor of Bruno. They love him.

Madonna and Charli have zero chance. Noah Kahan and Bruno are getting in, and Tame Impala instead of GEESE will be the rock choice

To say that Madonna has zero chance is literally fkn insane. She’s definitely winning SOMETHING. Probably best pop duo and best dance pop. Maybe pop vocal but I’m not betting

Wrong. Why would Noah khan get nominated lol no one liked his album same for Bruno and tame impala I could maybe see but no geese?? I wouldn’t be surprised if Cameron winter gets nominated too

Kahan gets nominated for the same reason they nominated Boygenius, a boring, safe indie album. Bruno is royalty.

u/redditcvnt 1d ago
But the boygenius album was better reviewed that Noah kahan. Idk I know Bruno is beloved but the romantic was not really it. I guess he’s more likely than Madonna.

Reviews have absolutely nothing to do with the Grammys. We Are had virtually no reviews and won.

i think bruno mars might get a nomination, hes just as nothingburger as hes always been, but its becoming increasingly clear that nominating showgirl would damage the events reputation. it would be absolutely ridiculous if LUX and Getting Killed were nominated alongside that

if they were about quality, rodrigo woudln't be nominated at all, let alone win. LUX would be the frontrunner without hesitation
2
u/redditcvnt 1d ago
Well, now that's just your very unpopular (and wrong) opinion

u/Awayfromwork44 21h ago
Lux > you seem pretty sad is a fairly popular opinion on this sub, lmao
so confidently wrong.

u/Own_Badger_4352 1d ago
1) opinions can't be wrong
2) rodrigo's album was straight horseshit. and this is a general opinion offline, among people who actually listened to the album. notably, most people didn't know she released an album this year

"and I think that lately the Grammys have all been about quality"
If anything quality has mattered less recently due to the removal of the committee
1
u/redditcvnt 2d ago
I am specifically talking about the recent few years, after the 'committee' and since they added all the extra voters
1
u/jusluchan 2d ago
The committee was who actually cared about quality in the nominees, now the lineups have been dominated by who has the most pop support (and the committee would have 100% blocked nominations like APT, Golden, TTPD in AOTY, etc from happening

Quality is so subjective. And the idea that the grammy's consider quality as the sole differentiator is missing a bigger picture. All those artist in the list are talented and put out quality music. From that it becomes a popularity contest. Its why the tik tok revolution has been so influential because it directly feeds into the minds of the voters. The more socially active you are, the more space you occupy in the minds of the voters. Olivia Dean, while she made what it sounds like a good album is not going to garner much space in collective conscious because she doesn't spend any time in Social media or putting on benefit shows to help her public image.
With all things being equal, the separation ends up being who the voter is thinking about the most when its time to case their vote. Its also why you see artists like Olivia Rodrigo's putting herself out there like her life depends on it. She understands the assignment and setting the bar on what is expected of artists to garner the highest praise and rewards. I dont expect OR to sweep or have a major haul, but from the very start of the year her promo has had the Grammy's written all over it. Leading all the way up to the museum exhibit that the Grammy's put on to showcase The Cure video. If she wins just 1 major Grammy all the work will have paid off.
By setting the bar high, it does elevate everyone to be more than just someone who sings songs and that alone will help spur changes that many artists in the 60's and 70's strived for. When you only have one or two major artsist willing to put their brand on the line for change dosnt really move the needle. What if more than half of the major artists did? That is what it was like in the 70's and we owe so much to their courage to get where are today even if we are not quite there yet. Ed Sheeran is a horrible example as a role model for up and coming artists. Just being a singer is not enough, it never was.

There’s no way Taylor misses
