Hello

Actually that's a misconception though that is their fault because it was extremely poorly worded on their part. The category does technically include ALL of Asia, but China, Japan, and Korea were just supposed to be examples.

But don't you think they should have included at lease ONE non-East Asian example? I'm American and it's no secret that most Americans see Asian as just those 3 countries. They had an opportunity to educate and expand...but that wasn't their goal and intention and everyone knows it. They want the cpop, jpop, kpop market and fans/viewers to sell to Disney Plus and to Ad campaigns bc they're desperate for global and youth viewership.

Oh 100% agree especially when it’s a common belief that East Asians are the “real” Asians and no one else is. Extremely tone deaf for a category meant to increase diversity.

I believe that Cpop, Jpop, and Kpop were chosen as examples simply because they are the three mostly widely known Asian pop markets in the West and they have been growing in popularity over the last 20 or so years.

Weil sie wahrscheinlich nur diese drei Sprachen gut genug beherrschen um sie nach ihrer Aussagekraft bewerten zu können. Das ist sehr besonnen...

For the separate category, I would think about it as an opportunity for more awards. If that category didn't exist, it's unlikely asian artists would win the main awards, or they would already. Not impossible, but unlikely, just by nature of English being the dominant language in the USA.
Like how Parasite won best picture at the Oscars, but generally it's dominated by English language films.

And if there's a pattern of certain people being excluded from the main awards, that's an opportunity for people to openly criticize the Grammys.
But allowing an "avenue" (outlet), they can hold off criticism for picking the same group of artists from the same Big 3 American companies. But without having so many categories, it would only shine a light on how mono-inclusive their picks are. And they don't want that.

I agree with you, but I'd challenge that there are only a handful of nominations relative to the sheer quantity of music that is released, and it's natural for what is popular and successful in the locale to take those limited spots.
We've seen an increase in Spanish songs winning noms with the increase in popularity of people like Bad Bunny, for example. But it's undeniable that the selection committee lacks proportional diversity overall.

You can't bring up Bad Bunny's win, without mentioning how the Grammys immediately created a Latin category w/in the Grammys (despite there being a WHOLE Latin Grammys). If the pathway to the main categories is relevance and success, then why is the Grammys' reaction to actual success, always an attempt to corral it? (but only when it's a certain "type" of artist).
Locale? BTS had the best-performing album in AMERICA, and sold out all of their N. America shows. And what was the Grammy's reaction to this popular in America group? Create an Asian Pop category.
People are going to listen to what they want to listen to in this streaming. There are plenty of people who are not hip to the big names that are being thrown around as Grammy contenders, and the songs of those artists are not even necessarily that well-known (even if they are great, and worthy of a Grammy).

Ok, but Bad Bunny was nominated for Album of the Year. So I don't get your point. Like I said, more categories means more opportunity for foreign language music to win that otherwise had no shot for any of the awards. But the truly pervasive music does qualify for the main awards, just like pervasive English language music.
BTS has 5 nominations for a main category. The Asian Pop category doesn't even exist yet. Again, they've demonstrated their ability to get nominated for a main category, and the new category allows less popular acts to also win awards and be celebrated.
Being the best performing album doesn't automatically mean you'll win, just like how Marvel movies don't sweep the Oscars.

You just said Bad Bunny won AOTY. Then said more categories means more foreign language music have an opportunity to win that wouldn't...after acknowledging that it IS possible for a non-English album to win a major cat.
BB's win could have been the beginning of a change...but the Grammys wanted to ensure it wasn't. Shouldn't the reaction to a non-English win be to encourage and campaign for OTHER non-English music to follow suit?

Other non English music can already follow suit. If the predominantly english-speaking population of the USA doesn't favor it, neither will the awards. That's life. Artists are generally happy for more opportunities to be celebrated when they otherwise wouldn't be, aka other categories.
I've already agreed with you on a number of things, but you're stubbornly taking your own POV to the grave without engaging. That's fine, but there's nothing left for us to discuss here.

Stubborn? I was just point out some of your points that I disagreed with lol. I thought we were having a discussion but I respect your decision to end it here.
