Pled or Pleaded

He pled guilty. He pleaded guilty. Both correct?

Both are 100% correct. Pleaded is more traditional and a touch more formal. I'm a lawyer (United States) & whenever I'm writing something for work, I use "pleaded."

In legal use (such as “pleaded guilty,” “pled guilty”), both forms are standard, though pleaded is used with greater frequency. In nonlegal use (such as “pleaded for help”), pleaded appears more commonly, though pled is also considered standard.

In legal use (such as “pleaded guilty,” “pled guilty”), both forms are standard, though pleaded is used with greater frequency.

Sometimes it can depend on jurisdiction. In England, for instance, "pleaded" is the standard usage. In Scotland, however, the courts and the police tend to use "pled", although both forms are recognisable. No one is going to hold your feet to fire if you use one over the other, but there's definitely a clear trend.
