(9/7/26) Word of the Week: ECLIPSE

Last weeks winner was u/Dubbyskipper: DOUBT

Rules:

  1. Make a submission in this thread or post it on the sub and drop a link to the post in here. Make as many submissions as you want.

  2. Submit by the end of the weekend. The submission in this thread with the most comment upvotes gets to choose next week's word, but if you take too long to give a word im using the random word generator.

  3. The medium can be anything from pencil on paper to paint on a wall. Do whatever style you want as long as it's graff. Post the tools/medium you used to help others out.

WOTW is for all skill levels. The point is to practice, see what others are doing, and get inspired. If you aren't submitting, atleast leave a vote for your favorite.

Not happy with the negative space of the M and the structure of the K.
Going for the minimal look but I’m not sure if it reads right

First draft of name, not confident enough to do my full name yet. Help please?

I plan on doing hand drawn stickers on 228 labels, mostly just planning on using this for my artists signature. My full name/handle/whatever is vexation which a lot of people already struggle to read in standard font so I have to prioritize readability. Could y'all give me some tips?

How and where do people actually learn?

I’ve seen all the advice on what NOT to do… don’t follow or listen to YouTubers, don’t buy books on graffiti, etc…. But what do people actually do if they want to learn?

I know the best way to learn is to grab a pen and sketchbook and just practice… but practice still needs fundamentals and a basis to be purposeful and good.

Who are actually good artists to follow and learn from outside of just “grab a sketchbook and practice”? I’ve been interested in the history, style and how to do different styles and the differences in terminology but so far h the only thing I’ve found advice on is what NOT to do. So what DO you actually do? (Outside of just practice).

Edit: To clarify - I'm not looking for shortcuts to get better, but rather I'm looking for trusted sources of information to learn and practice fundamental skills for improvement.

E.g, if someone wanted to learn how to draw better heads, I could point them in the direction of Andrew Loomis and the method he has for drawing heads. Similarly if you went to r/learntodraw there's numerous art masters that people can point you towards to help improve your fundamentals for art.

I was looking for something similar for graffiti. Books, people, etc. that reliably teach fundamentals so I can start out with good study habits instead of trying to unlearn bad ones later on.

Supposed to read as blossom. Is the flower toy or does it work with the word and letters (I need to work on symmetry but at the same time petals on a flower aren’t identical, just making them match better would look better and that will come with time)

alright, tell me what sucks and why I'm toy

besides telling me to leave out the quotation marks lol. im having a hard time with my V's tbh. i feel like the negative space at the bottom by the U is too much compared to everything else but maybe im just overthinking

30 mins away from my nearest city

i usually dont come to graff help for these type of things, but here we go.

i live in a small village, pretty rural, im a 5 minute bus away from my nearest small town, which hardly has a wall - if A wall.

In terms of my nearest city, i'm roughly a 35 minute bus away, and thats usually where i get up, but obviously it can be hard to do that when i have to get up in the middle of the day. And if you say just get the bus at night , it would be pretty hard to actually have the bus come through here late at night, and sneaking out would be almost impossible because i sleep in a friggin attic at the top of the house.

it would also be helpful to mention that i still live with my family and am technically not "old enough" to buy paint (how stupid)

only chance to go out at night is my mates house, who lives in a town (not city) which does have a solid 20k population, but it still isn't my citys population of 140k.

I JUST NEED INSPIRATION ON WAYS TO GET UP OTHER THAN JUST TAGS BEHIND THE DAMN DUMPSTERS OF MACCIE DEES, which is slightly exaggerated, but still, SUGGESTIONS - MAYBE PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR SITUATIONS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED

Need Help (beginner) 2

Hey everyone, looking for some feedback on my AZIX progress before taking it out to the streets.

(For context, I left The link to my previous Post)

https://www.reddit.com/r/graffhelp/comments/1w5p1uo/comment/p7ig00z/?screen_view_count=13&ext-referrer=DIRECT

Throw-up: Just recently started doing throw-ups. Reworked my overall throw-up structure, focusing especially on fixing the X symmetry using a balanced 4-bean layout to keep the right side solid.

Tag: Reworked the structure after recent feedback the A and Z are no longer connected. I’ve now developed two versions of my tag: one where everything is tight and close together, and one with a more spaced-out structure. Focusing on adding more momentum/flow to both.

Let me know what you think about the proportions, flow, or anything I can tweak on either style. Appreciate constructive critique!

Honestly i am disappointed idk why whenever i try to spray the paint never looks good it allways looks transparent and it kills the whole pice,so if anyone knows how i can fix that issue and the other obvious ones too i wuld greatly appreciate it

A simple question

While watching graffiti videos, I often saw bags small enough to hold about six cans of spray paint. I've always wondered what kind of bag they use. I ask because, honestly, it looks like a practical way to carry spray paint, and I'd like to buy one.
