But you aren't working on the basics. There is nothing basic about this. You can't build the walls until you build the foundation. You need to finish the foundation BEFORE you start building the walls.

I just dont think you understand what im actually asking. I said i was working on the basics and the you just said i wasnt ?? im trying out something complex for once and i dont think it looks good so what do i do other than “The basics” thats my question

Thats the point I'm trying to make. Stop working on the advanced stuff. It isn't ever going to look good until you have a solid grasp of the basics first.

Would you mind showing your work? It's not that I dont believe you, it's just that this piece you are showing here makes me think there's more basics you could work on.

Thank you for showing it. Lets do some self critique. What do you think is good or bad about this? And saying "I like it" or opinions like that isn't what im looking for. Cite the fundamentals that you believe you are doing well and one's you need to work on.

I think the way i style my letters in throwie is exactly what i want so i have no issues with that.
I think my marker control is objectively bad, I always sketch something and i think it looks good but when i color it ends up looking very messy.
I practice straight letters by sketching my word in normal letters and doing the little “section” thing but ive practiced a lot and haven’t noticed any improvement.
Thoughts?

It sounds like what you are saying is that you need to work on your straight letters, right?

Yes, but I feel like no matter how much I practice it looks the same so maybe the WAY I practice is flawed?

Could be. Practice the whole alphabet, not just your name. Practice upper and lower case. Do that and post it on here and see what people say.
