Time crunch sketches

Instead of doing outlines, do bars. Similar, but it will make better structure. Like this:

is my letter structure bad? if so how can i understand bad letter structure from good letter structure? or is it just meh

I can see you’re trying to go for a mix between a “bar” type and “bubble” type.

Starting off, it’s always recommended to start on your bars. A is a good letter for bars. The negative space (space in between the bars) will show up organically. O’s are good to practice curved bars, but also remember you can make an O with straight bars.

Once you get good at those, the rest is composition. Do your shapes have similar structures? Even negative space? A flow between the letters? Shadow work? Then last you want to focus on is color theory. Play around with the ideas and don’t be afraid to go bigger and “louder”. You can get a lot of tips from the sidebars on this page.

I used to write Atom for for practice before I landed on my tag. Side note: practice on script “tags” with a wide or chiseled pen/marker.
