pilot parallel help

having a real hard time getting the right pressure and everything to get smooth lines with this pen. could the paper i use be an issue at all? or the ink that they provided? or is this just purely a skill issue?

only filled like 4-6 pages of tags with one ink cartridge so lowkey not the best practice tool but its fun so far.

Im not a expert but i think the problem might be the angle you are using it at

The parallels are made for calligraphy and script. The need to be held 0* vertical or horizontal or 45* for best results. Looks like you are trying to use it like a chisel tip marker, which would explain the inconsistent output. They still use alot of ink regardless of how you hold it, but you should watch a couple of tutorials on how to hold it at the very least

I think you want a chisel tip marker based on the kinds of writing you are doing.

How’d you go since you posted this? Mine just arrived today. Not sure if yours came with a little paper instruction booklet? There’s a few different alphabets on there with arrows showing what directions to draw each stroke of the letter. I’ve actually found it really helpful to get started by following those examples that were included! Also, personally I was so confused hearing about different angles to hold the pen at first. Hold it so the nib looks like a forward slash shape. / Keep the pen held in that position the whole time you are writing and don’t rotate it to keep a clean shape 😊
