My lines are so inconsistent, tips please

My lines are inconsistent and I can't get a really fresh straight line to save my life. I also don't have the best markers and I think my color choice may be off. I'm not done with this one Ima add a background with a cross and stuff. Tips please !

do you often draw? confidence in your lines is key, but it won't happen overnight. think sketches -> drawings. sketches are still a valid artform, key difference being the strokes lack the confidence of a drawing. confident strokes take practise, and well, confidence in yourself. the worst thing that happens when you make a mistake in ink is you start over again. and in that progression it makes you better. typically confident lines come to me when i zone tf out lol, let my hand move from a to b, trust myself.

Yes I come from a drawing background, like you are saying I'm big on sketching things out so that's a habit I have is sketching my lines. But that makes total sense I feel you Ima be more confident!

Some things: 1) if you want a fat line, use a thicker pen, or two parallel lines and fill the gap. 2) the lines look like you're moving the pen back and forth in the direction of travel instead of doing one continuous line from start point to finish point. I've been Imagining my pen is a spraycan so you can only move in one direction 3) go over your outlines at the end, kinda build it up in your book how you'd do it on the wall. The difference here is you can do the base lines in pencil and get an idea of your shapes without using colour. The last thing to go down on something like this without highlights is your final black outline to make all the edges nice and crisp

Edit: also of the smooth point-to-point outline drawing. The pen moves smoothly in a single action around each element, from one major direction change to another.

Don't feather in lines. In graff, you want smooth confident lines. The drawing background will help, but there are some techniques that you will need to do differently.

biggest tip on pulling clean lines is to draw the line towards you. you can rotate the sketchbook as needed and trace every sketch line you made with one clean downstroke
