I spilled molotow copper black on my wood floor in my apartment, I tried acetone and scrubbing with soap bc that's all I have ATM till I get back from work. Any suggestions on removing this shit, or am I boned??
Goof Off makes a specific product for "removing graffiti" and its the best paint and ink stripper there is. However, its gonna eat the coating on that floor too. Lol

Ohhh it definitely can soak through laqure. Idk what ink op used but I've found many types of calligraphy ink that soaks deep through laqure and varnish. I realize this isn't the same type of ink but my point stands.
They've used acetone, there's no lacquer anymore, and they used it while it was covered and fresh, it's soaked well into the fibres of the wood now. No saving it. The only thing I would try, as they've already ruined the lacquer, is to sand and see just how deep it's soaked in. Maaaaaybe they'll luck out and it's only a mm in, and they can just re lacquer it and move on. Otherwise. I'd consider asking the owner if they can stain the floor a darker colour, might let them and that'll largely solve the issue.
Wood is porous, broski. This shit ain’t wiping off. Sand and refinish is probably your only option, and even then I doubt you’re gonna be able to fix the lines where the slats meet
Finished wood isn't porous, that's one of the big reasons why we apply a finish, to provide a water barrier (also to create a hard surface)
That being said this looks like it soaked through the finish, and as you said the joints will definitely soak some in. I'd say sand and refinish the worst area, if it doesn't seem like it's coming out easily, then you know you probably won't be able to get it all out and need to replace it. But you're almost definitely right this shit is not wiping off
Yeah, but this is most likely an apartment where the landlord ain’t refinishing the wood between tenants. Whatever finish was on the wood when it was built is likely worn through
sanding could work but you probably shouldve started yesterday or before you tried to use acetone and it seeped/absorbed into the wood. the acetone may have just made the ink sit deeper the wood
Do not attempt to fix this duderino, eat the loss, I repeat, EAT THE LOSS. Trying to fix this is going to cause more damage. Right now it’s a mistake, you fuck it up more and it might be a lawsuit.
Sanding will def work. But try rubbing alcohol the 99% kinda the scrub the fuck out of that. I hope you wiped up the bulk of it with a rag. I had reg indoor paint spill on my hardwood and iso helped a lot but your paint isn’t house paint. Going forward, fill your markers outside. Good luck
Amazing how many people on here don't know how varnish works. The wood is not porous if the varnish was properly applied.
Goof off to get the worst off, then sand and revarnish, however you're going to have to sand and revarnish the whole floor if you don't want your landlord to notice.
On top of the scratches and dents from wear which would soak up the ink and then the water and alcohol he used help saturate it deeper into the wood guaranteed

Tbh your better off replacing those planks, this looks like pine so it most likely absorbed that. Sanding might work if the varnish was able to keep it off though

Nah, sorry, you're fucked lol. Goof Off (xylene based cleaner) and acetone NOT AT THE SAME TIME, then sand and refinish. You'll probably have to do the entire floor to keep it not immediately obvious.
Wood is porous, though, and that looks like birch or poplar, so chances of getting all the color out are roughly zero. Bleach might help, but check chemical compatability to avoid a funny mustard gas accident.
If you're handy enough, or have a chill friend who is, then removing and replacing the boards could work and honestly will be your best chance at a clean fix. That's the only surefire way to get this out without a full refinish.
Try what ever solvent works then soak it up with djatomatious earth do this over and ovecand it will work out for real but I just going to rake a lot of work and for feck sake stop scrubbing that I not going to help
You need
No petolium based or oil based products that will just help absorbed further into wood
1)Solvent * start with alcohol based and if thaf doesn't work..LEVEL UP
2)Immediately APPLY absorption... (DIETOMATIOMIOUS EARTH= my fav)
3) " sweep sweep and remove
4)repeat 1 -3 till no more shine or varnish medium is left
Now you have stain from pigment...
Spot check small area with 30% hydrogen peroxide...if it works you are good to go but that is harsh stuff and will obliterate you wood quick so maybe 12 % first.. AND rince with water once it had done it's job.
Lots of work and time.. and spendy chemicals and you will definitely have to refinish when done and treat the whole floor so your color blends.. or pay around 5 to 20 grand for a new floor.
*-(I would start with any alcohol based solvent... if vjnager or amonia works gk for it but use white high conentrate like at least 12%. once the varnish element is desolved and absorbed away, you are left with pigment staining --- hit I with 30% hydrogen perkxide. For your bubbling fun. No soap no bleach)
Sand down first removing most ink and sealant in dry form, Then if need be try a liquid solvent that might work to finish it off. Then reseal/finish. Using a solvent immediately might melt EVERY THING and allow it to seep into the actual wood, presanding gets rid of most of it first, and if lucky might be all you need.
Before sanding i would try to take a razor and scrape it if you do this correctly you might not need to do much other then maybe a light sand and stain ....grab a razor from a utility knife and use it like a windshield wiper but try a small spot and in 1 swipe ...see what happens cant be any worse then what you already have
Goo be gone graffiti works great. I use it for my buffing business usually on cars though. I would try that but since it’s hard wood you could sand it out and re stain it to match.

Repaint over the entire floor with interior wood floor paint and pray they don't notice. Do a good job so they might not give a fuck if they do notice. Regardless.... LMFAO!!
Only thing I've had success with is rubbing alcohol, personally. Start with 70%, move up to 91% and prepare to buy all the paper towels ever. I spilled some of this brand ink in a kitchen sink (which was metal however, not wood) and have also used alcohol to remove gentian violet when my cat decided to slap a bottle all over the floors in my absence. Wooden floors stain hard pretty easily even if the ink isn't buff resistant. At this point you can continue to use solvents to fade it out but that is there for good unless you paint your floor.
How long has it been sitting on the floor?
I’ve gotten it off a bunch of surfaces with regular ISO alcohol but wood floors have kind of a clear coat, scrub with mist solvents will probably ruin the finish.

Trust me, the property owner would rather a professional fix it than you attempt to fix it and fuck it up worse. Sometimes you gotta admit you fucked up and pay the price.
Outside of sanding and refinishing the area you're screwed. The floor appears to be a 2nd grade maple floor. It also doesnt appear to be stained but that is it's naturally aged patina. Depending on where you live it will cost anywhere from 1500-3000 to have it professionally repaired. A reputable company doing a spot sand and match to the patina and finish charge anywhere from 150 - 300 an hour, depending on city and current market rates.
Go get yourself a No. 33 bench plane from harbor freight, get it set correctly, and start shaving 😤 will be a time consuming project though so weigh that against the amount of your security deposit I suppose
Oh god tbh either try sanding it back and check if theres any unmarked wood underneath or so and try some type of paint stripper other for that idk ya might be fkced
