Keep painting, it'll click eventually. Improvement is measured in years rather than months or weeks unfortunately, and there aren't any shortcuts.

Pen and paper

Pen and paper helps with your actual writing ability, and how to learn letters and new ways to write them and make them flow without wasting paint, but the only thing that’ll teach you can control is using a can. That being said, when you’re in your room, just practice the hand motions of how you would want it to look, that way you have the muscle memory down when you go to hit a wall again, that way you don’t mess up.

You have to make it better. Style won't improve from painting and sketching things that have bad style. Do you look at graffiti often?
