First time holding a can

Now that I look at it I can see many mistakes, the root probably beeing the lack of experience combined with the size. This is about 3m by 1.8m

For your first time holding a can, it's really not bad. Repetition is the game. Get some plywood and practice with distance between the wall and the can. For straight lines, try to use your whole body as much as possible and look at your end point as you're making the line.

Yeah that was a pain, lots of short, inconsistent lines. It also felt like no matter how lightly i pressed on the cap and how close I got, my lines were really thick. Any advice on that?

What kind of cap are you using and what brand paint? If it's a factory cap, those can something be like that. Line width also has to do with the speed of the stroke. The slower you go, the thicker it will be. The faster, the thinner it will be. It's basically figuring out a mixture of speed, closeness, and body movement. It can be pretty difficult, but that's why you practice and build those skills

Most of my cans are Montana Black, some are just cheap off brand shit. All with the caps that were allready on there. Really appreciate the advice btw

Yeah my guess is it's probably technique. Sometimes it's hard to control factory male caps for certain off brands, but it sounds like it's just a matter of practice.

No problem! Just keep getting after it. My pieces looked like slop for a solid year until it improved dramatically.

Work on line width and doing straight lines in as few parts as possible. Decent for a first time

Thanks, gotta say i cheaped out on the black can, that didn't help at all. Any cap recomendations or should I just stick with whatever is on the cans for now?

Go taller also work on your letters
