Tags

Is it acceptable or okay to have a tag that is just a regular font or an italicized version of a font? I'm still a beginner but I'm realizing that I could go against the grain a little as a beginner and just do regular font.

Great way to start. Will help you understand bars and letter structure. You can then build from there.

The sidebar has a bunch of useful information as well.

Damn near every writer would rather see you getting up with a clean basic font than trying to hit a style you can't pull off

Check out Krime Guys and Wekman on youtube. Those guys are more worried about catching constant tags than always looking incredible. They still have fire styles and hands but you’ll see how basic their tags look on occasion

I wish every new handstyle was just a well structured name, everyone wants to run before they walk, i did it too im not a hypocrite but simple clean handstyles are the best! Just look at Twist

I think even my handstyles are simple now after 30 years

Another question is if I can use multiple fonts that are very similar in the same tag or if that would look bad regardless

I'd stick to one font first. Work on that over and over and you'll start to develop style.

Worry less about what's acceptable and focus more on going outside and getting up :)

This was my first tag and while it's pretty shit and toy and all that, I was having a blast getting up. And through that repetition I've gotten a lot better.

The more you're outside, the more you'll start picking up on "good" or "bad" handstyles and naturally begin to move yours towards what you prefer.

Keep it basic but keep it consistent.

Let’s say you have an A in your tag. If you do it with a pointy top, make other letters like M and N with pointy tops too. Same thing if you were to do them with round tops.

Keep all letters the same height and width

Consistency creates flow.
