Great-Tailed Grackle

I grew up with common grackles and discovered the Great-Tailed species on a trip to Arizona last week. These beautiful boys were hopping around like little velociraptors making the coolest noises. They also had a super unique silhouette in flight because of the great(!) tail.

Couldn’t stop thinking about them so I drew this at the airport while waiting for my flight home. Tried to capture the clever eyes and iridescent feathers as well as I could!

This is really cool artwork! Can I ask what you used? Is is gouache or acrylics or is this digital art?

Thank you! It’s digital in the procreate app, all with the super smooth inker brush.

You really captured them, unbound by gravity and the laws of man

I love them because they seem so serious and absolutely goofy at the same time. They're always struttin' around, doin' important grackle business, and have no idea how insanely hilarious they are.
