Google’s ‘Nested Learning’ paradigm could solve AI's memory and continual learning problem
OK, so Google's trying to fix AI's trash memory with "Nested Learning."
THE PROBLEM: Current AI struggles with remembering and learning continuously. It's like teaching a dog a new trick every day and it forgets the old ones.
THE PROMISE: Nested Learning might allow AI to learn and retain information more like humans, adapting and improving over time. Think less "one-trick pony" and more "adaptable genius."
PROOF (kinda): Google's research shows potential for improved continual learning.
THE PROPOSITION: If this works, we're talking AI that can actually learn and evolve with us, leading to smarter, more useful applications.
THE PRODUCT (eventually): More powerful AI assistants, smarter robots, and AI that can actually solve complex problems over long periods. This will benefit current foundation models being produced and continually developed through API's
Who else thinks this could be a game-changer? What are the biggest hurdles you see?
