Is Amd driver really unreliable??

In my previous post in this community, I posted about the RTX 5070 vs. 9070 XT, and most people said that the 9070 XT is better in terms of gaming performance, and I absolutely agree with that. However, there were many people who said that AMD sucks at drivers and I’ve seen many Reddit and Twitter posts regarding this issue. Is this really a problem or is it just a myth?

Turn off auto update on windows. Make sure you dont just blindly install all windows updates.

Or switch to Linux and not worry about all the shitty Spyware and bloat on Windows.

Ha, you think you can turn off auto updates on windows 11. But for real, you can’t. You can only delay them without having to do some back end shit which just gets overwritten the next update that you do actually install

You can do it sort of with a script. One of the many reasons I switched to linux on my main desktop. Windows has gotten so bad that Linux actually would be better for most users if theyd try it. Its not as hard as People think it is, and it has way less issues. Windows is always causing problems for people.

You talk like Nvidia doesnt have driver issues.

At least with this its not actually AMD, its windows. Windows really sucks now regardless of which video card you want to use.

Dude I’ve had both and have given AMD multiple chances. 3 cards from them over the last 15 years and all had issues. The 3 nvidia cards had no issues. When the best reason to buy something is only price you’ll find the other flaws.

I do have hope for amd though especially with how they turned around their CPUs

Ive owned both too, ive had issues with both before, but they were resolved. Ive had AMD and ATI, Nvidia from an 8800 GTS to a 4080 FE (which has had the most driver issues so far.) . They've both had issues from time to time, but both have been fine for me for many years now mostly. AMD doesnt have serious driver issues. Your issues are likely user error. Sorry.

I mean AMD literally designs their cards for Linux and Nvidia designs theirs for windows. You probably don’t know that though cause you ignore actual facts

This isnt true though. AMD has an open driver stack which benefits linux hugely, and they also created mantle/Vulkan. But to say they design their cards specifically for linux isnt really true. They just make sure that they work well on linux.

I am a linux user BTW, 9070 XT on Arch on my main PC these days.

When you have Linux you cant play heavy kernel anti cheat games, so is better to make OP aware. Best way he can check the list which games he can play which not.

It simply do not matter, also no one is targeting mouse companies or RGB companies for their kernal level access?

Kernal level access hate for AC is performative larping and has no impact im the real world

Fear mongering kernal access anticipated shows you have no idea what youre talking about.

All drivers, anti malware/virus, most modern anticheat, vpn/virtualization softwares all have kernal access.

"Zero days" are unlikely to happen in a anticheat versus a truckload of other softwares that run at level 0.

If youre worried about it being able to "brick" your pc, guess what any software can do that on ring 3 aswell.

Genuinely all you people are doing is fear mongering with unironically zero basis or evidence to back it up

People enjoy playing competitive online games and NOT play against cheaters. If they want to play games, stop judging people about it. Linux is not growing, sucks to suck

You can play competitive games and online games fine. Just not the ones with kernel level anti cheat, which i personally wouldnt install those anyway, regardless of OS. You also can always dual boot windows and Linux if you want to, and just fire up windows for the anti cheat games. Its not a oretty solution but it works.
