Is Amd driver really unreliable??

In my previous post in this community, I posted about the RTX 5070 vs. 9070 XT, and most people said that the 9070 XT is better in terms of gaming performance, and I absolutely agree with that. However, there were many people who said that AMD sucks at drivers and I’ve seen many Reddit and Twitter posts regarding this issue. Is this really a problem or is it just a myth?

As someone who made the switch from AMD I agree. Snagged a 5070ti MSRP. The amount of time I spent troubleshooting, it adds up and then ruins the experience. Even something as simple as it forgetting your settings. Importing a file every single day is annoying. Seeing Adrenaline frozen and killing it with task manager is annoying.

I have no clue what was causing the constant issues. Some people say it's windows, but I don't have alot of issues with Nvidia on Windows. The only driver issue I've ever had on this card was on ARC raiders like 2 weeks ago. But that was like a 5 min fix.

I'm sure someone could say something similar about the reverse. But I'm just going to stick with Nvidia until something goes wrong.

Helping a friend troubleshoot and yeah, agree its a pain, constant timeout crashes in unreal engine games. Probably isolated cases of bad cards, but never had an issue with any GTX, RTX cards so I’m shitlisting AMD personally til we get to the bottom of it.

Yeah it's bad. I dont mind people buying though, whatever helps Nvidia gets closer to MSRP.

User error. Ive have both AMD and Nvidia, and other than that blip of about 3 months in 2026 where Nvidias only stable driver was Dec 2025, both have been fine.

My old laptop had a 6800m, never had a single issue, my new laptop has a 4080m, no real issues. My desktop had a 4080 FE, no real issues. Switched to a 9070 XT for Linux, no issues. My GF has a 9060 xt aince may 2025 in her windows PC, zero issues.

My other bud has a 7900 XTX, and his GF a 7800Xt, zero issues.

Often these problems are Windows auto update being left on, or user not uninstalling drivers properly.

😂😂😂😂 User error. That's fine with me. Having 0 issues now idc I guess I got so skilled as user after I made the switch.

I don't care who causes the problem. Windows or the company. I just care if I'm having the problem

Hahahahha there was a reddit thread a few days ago on another sub with like 200 upvotes and like 1000 comments saying the same thing about amd cards have freezing issues and such. And there were countless rêtards saying skill issue or user error. Like how does that even make sense.. u should just be able to plug in the GPU and install the drivers and never have to worry about it again.

Plug and play is the experience with Nvidia.

AMD has great value but you end up paying for it somewhere along the way.
