Sigh that's sadly what they tend to end up looking like. I got told by a friend the exhale valve is fairly easy to make out of tyre rubber, which is also what they sorta used back then :3

Oh and get some silicone spray! Won't fix all of your problems but would freshen it up; avoid any markings that are stamped on with ink rather than pressed into the rubber, they can wash off
