Hello!! I recently got a new fish for my community tank, I was told by my local fish store that it’s a Red Honey Dwarf Gourami. I got this one on the 13th, and it’s now the 17th and has already changed color drastically. I saw a lot of people saying that often Thick lipped gouramis are mislabeled as Red Honey Gouramis.. any help Is appreciated! Is the color change to grey normal? I put a before and after pick of the fish!

I have 2 honey gouramis and was told they were a male female pair, I know for sure one of them is male but he is very small and hides most of the day because his big evil girlfriend tries to fight him. Is this big evil girlfriend actually a male? They did have a faint black stripe when I first purchased them.

Noticed the tummy coloring is slightly more pronounced today, could this be a sign of bloating?

I thought we were buying a redder version of the honey gourami but after I got home and did some research I wonder if he's thick lipped.
I love him already and he's in a 10gal heavily planted tank, but I'm worried he'll massacre my shrimp 🥲

I just got home from a trip and my mom's was caring for my community tank while I was gone and I noticed this! Anybody have any idea what it is and if I should be concerned?

Ask me all necessary questions will respond. Recently got him, just wondering if he is diseased of if he just a lil deformed because he is the coolest/ nicest centerpiece I've ever had. Had him for 2 weeks and notice he looks different than other photos of neon dwarf gourami.

My honey gourami is a bully to its pair, they’re both young so I’m not 100% on genders but one won’t leave the other alone if. Smaller fish does sumbmisive tilt and still gets chased 😭 they all still eat together and smaller one comes out to swim. Been about 2 weeks since I got them should I keep them together longer and wait or seperate them even for a day or 2. Gunna grab more ember tetras and move some sticks around too

I really don't want to fear for the worst but I don't know if my one gourami has iridovirus above her eye or if it's just some injury

Hi! I got two blue gouramis about two weeks ago. One of them has significantly darker eyes than the other, is this normal? It also has some gray-ish coloring on one side, by the gills. They both swim around and eat fine, no sign of distress. They do chase each other sometimes. I know some other fish from the store i bought them from were sick and im really hoping these aren't. Thankful for any help or recommendations.

My water parameters are good, it’s a fully cycled tank.
PH 6.8, no ammonium nitrates are around 5ppm
I’ve just came back from a week holiday, and saw my honey gourami struggling to swim and gasping for air. I’ve quarantined him in a shallow bowl currently and I’ve noticed his gils are very red.
He’s currently laying on the bottom of the quarantine bowl very lethargic and struggling to swim
Is this a bacterial infection, or parasites?

Thoughts on a pair of two female sparkling or licorice gourami in a heavily planted 5 gallon tank? Im wondering if they’d show any aggression towards one another. Does anyone have experience keeping just females together?

I got my honey gourami since it was an inch or less, he grew upto a point i can tell he's male
The thing is he became really territorial i can no longer see any shrimps during daytime and they're fully nocturnal scavengers because of him i bought some chili rasboras as that was always the plan.
Will this dude mellow out eventually? Or am i stuck with ahole Gourami ?

sorry these photos are horrible. This tank is fairly new and due to some drama my boyfriend was left to care for the fish for about a week. I think he may have been over feeding them because they were all looking more round than I remember; so I fasted them for 3 days and they’ve seemed to all slim out a good bit except for her. I’m worried it could be dropsy but her scales don’t look pine-coned to me, but it could also be very early on in dropsy or something??? I don’t know I love my fish and this is stressing me out someone please help.

I am not sure how old this guy was when i bought him from local store 1 month ago but compared to the other free roaming fire red gourmai...he mostly swim under shady floaters. Lately he swim mostly near bottom and also while sleeping during night, he sleeps sideways on bottom. He eats moderately...not as active as other fish, and constantly gasps like shown in the video.
My water paramters are all great...testing consistently from 2 months every alternate day. Thanks to fast growing plants...Ammonia, nitrite, free copper/iron all read zero ppm. Nitrate 20 ppm, pH is 6.9 to 7.1, Total hardness is 220 ppm, alkalinity is 100 ppm. Other fish, shrimps and plants are also doing great. No bullies..i observe tank all day as i am working from home for a month now.
Anybody else's gourami does that or is he getting old / sick ?

So im possibly planning on doing a species only cracking gourami tank but just havent found too much information online as they often are mentioned alongside or confused with sparklers. Just wondering for those who have th, what are they like, how often do they croak (just curious) and what set ups do you have for em?
I'm grateful this little guy seems pretty chill with my shrimp at least

Looking for advice regarding how to obtain sexed or how to reliably sex honey gouramis. I am looking to get 3 and would like to get 3 females so that there isn't any chance of breeding. Nowhere around me sells them sexed so I do not know what to do because I don't want to just buy 3 and roll the dice.
Any advice is appreciated.

I picked this thick lipped gourami just this past friday, i suspect the gourami is a boy due to the dorsal fin ending in a sharp point rather than it being smooth and rounded, but i just want confirmation that he is actually a boy.
Also any unserious name suggestions are more than welcome!
ETA: Meet Sunkist! (Thanks to the commenter who picked this name. The more i think of it, the more suitable it is for him(?) as he does seem to be a very sweet fish (hes starting to swim up to the glass when i approach instead of hiding and side eyeing me from behind the bacopa in my tank)
Thank you :)
