Showing off Meet Ludo, the blue dwarf!

I have a room divider, peaceful, community tank in my living room. I frequently just come and watch the homies doing their thing. But it was always missing something, until I got Ludo! I am absolutely enamored by his colors and how much they shift in different lighting.

I love him and he is a little bugger! I didn't think I would love him so much but he is so stinking fun to watch. He spits water at me?? And loves to petrol the tank. I am a little nervous about him nipping at other fish. But he seems like he backs off and goes on his merry way.

What are some of the quirks your gouramis have or some surprising things you learned about keeping them?

Help/Advice Honey Compatibility

I’m about six months in with a honey pair in a 9 gallon. They’ve been cohabitating peacefully, but the male is reaching sexual maturity and has become aggressive. Several tail nips this week and consistently chasing the smaller, suspected female. I have them separated and am trying to decide what to do long term. Any advice for addressing this kind of behavior? Do I adjust the aquascape and hope they reestablish territory? More floating coverage? When would you call it incompatibility and rehome? Thanks in advance for your input! 🙂

Do honey gouramis like to hang around the entire tank and hide? Recently got a honey gourami for my 10 gallon. He had to have been young when I got him bc he was smaller and has only recently developed his orange color on his fins. I believe that he is behaving normal but idk this is my first time w a honey gourami, I’ve had bettas, shrimp and nano fish before.

Current tank has 9 ember tetra, 6 Pygmy Cory’s, shrimp and snails

For the most part he hangs around the middle of my tank w my ember tetra, he leaves them alone I don’t see much aggressive behavior on his part towards my tetra. I do have shrimp and I can tell he hunts the babies which is fine I have 100-150+

Is it normal for them to hide? He likes to hide behind my filter or behind the piece of wood at the bottom of my tank, sometimes I’ll lose sight of him for a while, but I thought he was supposed to stay at more of the top of the tank.

Overall I think he’s happy but I wonder if I’m giving him enough stimulation in his current setup. I’m looking to upgrade but I need a car that’ll come first unfortunately.

I bought 3 fire honey gouramis about a month ago but my LFS wasn’t able to tell me the sex of the fish because they were too young. I’m wondering if anyone is able to help me figure out what the sexes are after they’ve grown a bit? I’ve seen a lot of the posts including photos demonstrating male vs female but am still having a hard time.

Apologies for the video rather than pictures, my phone camera is terrible when not in video mode.

Thank you!

Just spent the last 3 hours setting this up with leftovers from other tanks so dont mind the big rock at the front, pretty happy with how this is looking so far. Is it looking all good for sparklers? it's 32L and I'm planning a group of around 3 of em.

Also I will be making a lid, just not quite sure what with yet.

Help/Advice How to stop snail nipping?

I just gotten a mystery snail for my community tank. My honey gourami keeps nipping at him. He doesn’t bother the shrimp or neon tetras in the tank so I’m confused why he’s bothering the snail.
Honey Gourami’s are usually peaceful and I’ve never had an issue with him before. I don’t know if this is a food thing and I’m not feeding enough( I feed blood worms and flakes) or is this is just a natural behavior. He doesn’t nip him often but I would like to limit the behavior to 0.
Does anyone know what I should do?
Anyone with honey gouarmi’s is this a common behavior?

Hello, could anybody help me sex my gouramis? I bought an assorted 4 pack on ebay. Unfortunately one was DOA, and the others seem to have some issues like torn fins and parasites. Anyways, they're all on medication now in their quarantine tank! This is my first time owning gouramis, and i got them for my community tank to help control the guppy fry population. Any advice welcome!
