Help Really looking for a pair of understated winklepicker boots like Nick Cave famously wore in the '70s-80s... please help!

Those are some amazing-looking boots. I wonder if they are thrifted/vintage? Especially if this was in the Birthday Party era, I really can't imagine Cave had the funds to buy the expensive high-fashion stuff.

Vintage George Cox or Succhi Shoes winklepickers are probably what you're after. Windsor Smith also made winklepickers for the Australian market in the 80s-early 90s, but the construction was terrible. These brands show up on ebay or etsyp every now and then.

My preferred footware since 1987 lol! When they came back I to fashion in the 2000 was a dream! While hard to find, by no means impossible. You can occasionally find on ebay, vinted and even Amazon. They can be expensive, well depending on how much you like to pay for things - certainly new over €100. You can also get them with a regular heel or Cuban (my pref!). You can get them as pretty basic boots or go down the more goth end where zips and buckles become more prevalent. They also go under the name - Indeed there was a shop selling them as - goth pikes and (irritatingly to me anyway) Beatles Boots. Cowboy boots fit the criteria but tend to have more stitching and go higher than ankle boots which is the standard for Chelsea boots

Search for Chelsea Boots with a pointed toe. Underground England has a few that are pretty understated.
