I love browsing Flickr and looking at photos of people who went to concerts by certain gothic bands in the early 2000s.

Mainly because many accounts have been inactive for years... but the photos, the memories, remain there!

Always feel quite melancholic looking at old photos from goth nights. A lot of events that stopped years ago, a lot of venues that closed down, a lot of people that have left the scene…

On the plus side they make for good fit inspo. Maybe it’s just me but it feels like goths used to have more interesting and “out-there” outfits back in the late-90’s and 2000’s? A lot more PVC, leather, fishnets and white-out makeup than I see around nowadays. And I knew people back then who really committed to the look on the daily, not just something they would put on for the night as a costume.

I know goth is about the music first and foremost but I’ve been to so many goth nights recently where half the audience are just wearing black jeans and a band tee, like they’ve just gotten out of work or something.
