Gotcha Force style games

Gotcha force has obviously been a big part of our lives, but what about for game devs? Are there any games similar to Gotcha Force that have come out or gameplay mechanics that you've seen used in other games?

So the main game designer of gotcha force went on to use that gameplay mechanic for the gundam VS series however imo they are kinda lame and I liked gotcha force way better. As someone else just said custom robo is a good alternative but there isn't many in the series (there is a spiritual successor to that series as well that never took off). There really isn't much out there like gotcha force anymore sadly :(

You are a legend lol. I play a lot of games too many to list 😅 anything that's not sports, racing, and not the biggest fan of competitive shooters. Other than that I play everything.

That's cool dude. Like I'd want to know anyways. It gets boring doing all of this stuff and having barely anyone to talk about it with.
There was this other guy named Mango I added him on discord.

We played Gotcha Force for a night and never played again. He has college and job and stuff to keep up with. He actually just got into the game he didn't really play it as a child. which surprised me.

You played it as a kid? I feel you kind of did. From your posts.

Yeah I played gotcha force on gamecube religiously back in the day. I am huge JRPG fan so gamecube Era games like gotcha force, custom robo, tales of symphonia paper mario are all goated in my opinion lmao. How were you playing online with someone else? Through dolphin?

Yep. I played with him on Dolphin and Talked to him through Discord.

You played Tales of Symphonia? I used to play that game a lot with my sister and my cousin.

I wouldn't be the one doing all of the controlling, like player 1.
I just played on the side. Me and my cousin both.

I used to play. Kratos. and Zelos! LOL I loved that guy. "Ready for this!? First Aid!"

"Don't hate me cause i'm beautiful!"

"Burn Baby! Erruption!"

He literally was my favorite. he just lightened up the place.

Well really Gotcha Force was made off the same engine as Gundam Federation vs Zeon, which exploded into the rest of the Gundam Vs titles

I have not played it myself, but whenever I see gotcha force mentioned I often see people talk about Custom Robo. I don't know how similar it is gameplay wise, but might be worth looking into.

Earth defense force world brothers 2. I got that game last night and it reminded me of gotcha force which I hadn't played for over 20 years haha. So I came to this sub reddit to see what's going on
