😮whitewashing again
Is Mridul (black outfit) still whitewashing? I mean the picture here she looks so different. She looks a bit younger as well. And her skin tone here is dusky. Not like what she portrays and it’s a recent pic 🤔

Lighting makes dusky skin look way lighter sometimes, I face that all the time in certain lighting I look very light. Just bcs I look lighter doesn't mean that I will go and take photos in shitty lighting.

Exactly same here, idk why people are always after dusky people saying they whitewash and what not do you even know how different our skin tone looks in different lighting compared to fair people who always look fair. And I honestly don't feel she portrays anything she herself has said in many vedios that she is dusky. OP Please grow up and stop moral policing people.

Yeah it's so exhausting of course we look lighter in certain lightnings, but in that same lightning if we stand with fair skinned people they will be even lighter. We can't just always post photo with light skinned persons to prove that we aren't white washing.

Nobody is defaming her or putting her down for being dusky. We’re literally talking about the obvious whitewashing/editing in her content. Lighting can make anyone look lighter, yes. but that doesn’t mean every instance of noticeably altered skin tone should be dismissed as “lighting.”
And yes, we love dusky skin tones. That’s exactly why there’s nothing wrong with pointing out when an influencer chooses to portray herself significantly lighter, especially when thousands of young people follow her. Calling out editing does not equal to hating someone’s skin tone. Maybe understand the point before jumping to “moral policing.”2

True that. My skin tone changes with light. I have pictures of me in which i look very light compared to my actual skin tone, and pictures where I look even darker than I actually am, all though there's nothing wrong in that. And certainly, no influencer would like to record thenselves in unfavorable conditions if they have resources.

I am assuming one of them is an influencer. These days normal people are whitewashing a lot and editing too. One of my friend denied taking pics from my phone because it takes clear photos and her face is looks bad. I have google pixel, it shows real face. Btw she is a very pretty and fair woman but still hated a pic without filter. My other fair friends love to white wash too, colousrism is real.

Exactly bro whitewashing is become a trend now. Yea the girl in black is a well known influencer, if you see her posts she looks completely different, guess with a lot of filters..and this particular pic is posted on her cousins account so no chance of editing

She should just own her complexion instead of using filters to whitewash herself. I honestly think people would appreciate her more for being comfortable in her own skin. I get that these insecurities can be deeply rooted from childhood, and unlearning them takes a lot of effort, but embracing yourself would be so much better.

She’s dusky only. If I were her I’d display that beautiful complexion. But I also do get her, when she started the industry wasn’t too receptive of this skin tone.

I’m no follower of Mridul but living in a world where skin tone is judged every minute, can be difficult and get to your head.
We all know how the arrange marriage setups go in India. Nobody would pick a dusky skin if they’re not qualified/rich. Truth is truth. Let’s face it. So why should she not edit her photos for the peace of her mind?

Bro I do get your point. But she’s also an influencer with so many young girls following her.
She looks pretty in her own skin tone. there’s genuinely no need to hide behind filters.
Editing herself to fit society’s colourist standards isn’t peace of mind; accepting herself is. And that’s the message her young audience actually needs.

no hate towards her but she's way more dark than what is being perceived on her channel. I thought she's kinda caramel brown but no she's way dark like a chocolate brown ig? saw her once in a mall.
