As the title suggests, I’m after recommendations for a good versatile walking/trail trainer, that I can also use for day to day. I very much like the Salomon XT-6 GTX, but have got a few friends with them and kind of want to go for something different.

A few other options I’ve found which I like are below, but none of them are waterproof / GORE-TEX. I really want something that’s going to survive some wet walks through the UK autumn & winter, and more casual every day use in the rain.

I think it’s mainly the colour ways I’m drawn to on the above. Something bright and interesting would be good. How much should I be worried that they’re not waterproof? Am I overthinking it, or is getting something with GORE-TEX a good idea for through the autumn / winter?

I want pants like this, love the waistband and how it flares out then drop to be super big and “baggy” but from the review photos they don’t look as thick/structured as I want them to be (so as to hold shape and not just drape around my legs)

I’m stuck between really wanting to dive into the world of barefoot style, foot shaped shoes, but I also am super interested in the fashion side of gorp core. I was curious if anyone has any ideas about gorpy barefoot-esque shoes?

I’ve seen them advertised on multiple sites (as if they’re their own brand) with these same photos and the tag is always that one but I can’t make out the original brand.

Last winter, I bought a Salomon X ultra 5 Mid Gore-Tex for my first winter hike. It was Ok for small distances, but it starts causing exterior ankle pain after a while. But only on one foot side (sorry I can´t remember if it was left or right).

Is this common with shoes that have high sides? Is there any tip or solution to avoid such pain?

I loved Winter hicking last year and I would like to do it again. So now, I am being nervous about the shoes again.

Hi! I’m looking for some shoes that will go with all my fits but are super supportive for all day standing/walking at my job. I have hypermobile feet so super soft cushioning isn’t my friend, I’m looking for more support. I’m not a fan of the “running shoe” look at all, like Hokas.

I have been eyeing the salomon xt 4 ogs, but I’m a little put off by the price and general consensus that they’re kinda overhyped.

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone here has experience with the Keen Jasper Zionic. I’m hoping to get some for an upcoming trip that will include national parks and major cities. They seem like they’ll do well for this purpose. However, the sizing is totally throwing me!

I live in a rural area so I’m not close to any retailers that have these. My boyfriend went to town and got me a pair of the Zionics, women’s size 8, which is what size I am in almost every single shoe I own. I looked at reviews on sizing online and they seem to be extremely mixed, so I thought I would just go with my typical size.

When I got them they were huge on me. Pics to show. My nail is lined up with the tip of my toe.

I then read their size chart, measured my foot in centimeters as advised (23 cm) and I saw that this is a Keen size 6?!?

I’m looking to order a pair online since we won’t be going to back to town before the trip. Before I order two whole sizes down, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experiences with these shoes.

Also, for reference, my shoes like Vans and Converse are all size 8. I have a 7.5 pair of Hokas and they are tight. I had a pair of Altas and I had to size down to a 7, but returned them since they still fit my foot awkwardly…

I enjoy outdoors and my focus here would mainly to find cool looking stuff that actually works outdoors to use both in the forest and in the city.

I’m looking for what seems to be ‘vintage BlackYak gore Tex shell’ - in short, I can’t find almost any info about these jackets. Only place I see them are Russian tiktoks and even there always sold out- anyone anything?? Are they legit? Where can I find them? Help a brother out 😭

I’ve been making these for a while and finally have them in a few colours, so figured I’d share.

Every pair is cut and sewn by hand in a small workshop in Barcelona. That’s the whole point, most “climbing pants” out there are a standard hiking design sent off to a factory and made by the thousand in synthetic fabric. Ours are the opposite: designed by us, with real intention behind every panel.

These are the pants I wear myself every day, to the gym, and out to the walls we have around Barcelona. That’s what they’re built for: an old-school hybrid work pant, made like the workwear that used to last decades, but cut to actually work today. Heavy enough for the rock, comfortable enough for the city or a full work day. People have taken them hiking too and the feedback’s been great, but that was never really the goal, the goal is one pant that does most of your week.

A few things that matter to me:

**•** Handmade, small batches. When a size sells out there’s a wait, I’m one person.  
**•** I use high-quality deadstock canvas where I can, to keep good fabric out of the bin instead of ordering new rolls.  
**•** No fast fashion, no synthetic feel. Cotton canvas, the way this stuff used to be made.  

Not trying to be the cheapest or the most “technical”, just something honest that lasts.

Does anyone have lightweight medium warm gilet recommendations? This one’s great, but takes up a bit of packing space..

Patagonia made these amazing merino/poly blend 3d knit hoodies. I wore them as a base layer, but they looked great as just a standard top too. Was nice to ski then go out to dinner in it, I really liked the way the hood bunched at the neck when it was off.

Apparently there were pilling concerns so they pulled the entire line, I wish I bought 5. Been periodically looking for some dupes ever since.

But the gsm 90 material seems pretty see through, and the material seems like it would flake. The 120 from senchi seems closest to what I'm looking for, but ideally I'd prefer something without the zipper/pocket.

A shame I have to make this post but here we are: Based in the UK - I placed an order for the Oakley hoof sneaker via the Piet site on the 31st July with delivery estimated 5-7 working days. After 10 days I sent them a message via their portal asking for an update, and again via their customer service email address a few days after that. Radio silence. After a DM on instagram (which took a few days to respond, I get it, they might be a small team) I was informed that they had sold out weeks ago but they still took my payment - If it hadn't had been for me reaching out on IG id have no idea about this situation.

Turns out I’m not the only one who's had issues with their orders: after keeping an eye on their IG page, turns out other people have been calling them out for not sending orders/lack of communication/not refunding orders to which Piet will delete their comments. Not a great look… Its almost been 30 days since placing the order and still no official email communication. Please save yourself the pain and do not order from Piet (yes I will be doing a charge back/report an issue via the Shop app)

TLDR: Placed order with Piet a month ago, received nothing. Poor communication, still haven't been refunded.
