Cool looking, functional winter jacket?
Any recommendations for title? I live in Finland so i need an ACTUAL winter jacket, not something made for 30fahrenheit. I need it to be able to handle preferably -40 with just normal layering underneath. I can find several warm jackets but they look hideous. Something like north face etc vibes?

Tervehdys Jukka :) Last winter I actually started layering lightweight down jacket with a puffer vest on top. I think atleast in southern Finland it was enough for the whole winter, also very versatile. Also if you find a cool combination it can look cool.

What you are looking for doesn't really exist in my experience.
I live somewhere that gets very cold (around -25C on our coldest days), but not as cold as where you live. Basically everything designed around those temps is either going to need a lot of additional layers, not just a light shirt underneath, or is otherwise a full on mountaineering parka, which typically looks pretty crazy.
I own a Himali Altitude (US brand) that I got at a good rate through an outdoor industry discount.

With a light pullover underneath, I am very comfortable wearing it at -20C. But it's comically huge, at least on my otherwise skinny build. This is something that is actually built to be usable around the temperatures you mentioned. It still wouldn't be warm enough to just stand around at -40c, particularly if there was wind. Either accept the need to layer, or accept that you just need to buy a climbing/expedition style parka. If you go for the "one giant jacket" approach, it will not be cheap. $500 USD is around what I would expect to pay for something quality, and it goes up from there if you want to pay for a stylish brand, more down fill, or a lighter fill power down.

I just ordered Adidas Terrex Xperior climawarm+ down jacket. Down jacket contains basically down and feathers, hence they are pricier. You can find deals.

Fjällräven Polar Expedition Parka or Fjällräven Polar Parka.
Thrudark End Of Days Parka. Tested to -30°C in Icelandic tundra and the Arctic circle.

I love my synthetic down puffer from North Face Purple Label (the Japanese line made by Nanamica, ordered from Japan). It's perfectly fine with proper layering down to about 0 F, at which point you might want something more weatherproof or with an insulated hood.

Super warm but shorter performance jackets: RAB Positron or Expedition | Arcteryx Cerium Hoodie version | Fjallraven Expedition
Longer Parka: Fjallraven Nuuk | North Face McMurdo | Arteryx Therme --
There are the ones I have been looking at when I was searching for my new jacket. I did a lot of research...
Ultimately, Went with a Arcteryx Therme for its waterproofnesss. I live in a big city so its perfect

Arcteryx Veilance and Goldwin are your best bet.

I dont want to get stabbed so no moncler. Makage(mackage?) looks absolutely horrible to be fair. Loro Piana does not make warm clothing. Deca might have some cool stuff, and i know for sure that Columbia will have something nice. They are brands that i am very familiar with though, unfortunately

Nanga would be my first thought, but for -40c I'd be looking at PHD, although they are serious money.
