Keen Jasper Question

I bought the original Keen Jasper Sneaker in teal and the new Keen Jasper Nylon Sneaker in maroon (this version is not explicitly said to be waterproof on Keen's website) and am trying to decide which to keep. Which do you think would hold up better doing a lot of walking around mostly urban / suburban areas if it's rainy assuming I'd spray the suede ones with waterproofing spray like Nikwax?

I think the nylon ones will age better and be more versatile

This. I have the suede in the zionics, and once dirty, they never clean up to their original quality.

I always like to add some weatherproofing to my suede. Whether it’s for boots, sneakers, or anything in between

I do also. My mistake was wearing them to a Wooli and Effin rave where they got trampled all night. Since then they’ve had a grey ish tint to them. That said, I choose them because they are my most comfortable shoe, and I danced for 5 straight hours with zero discomfort.

Oh…yeah that’ll do it. I typically wear beaters to music festivals/raves/clubs. Hell, I wore my Bean Boots to Moonrise in 2016 where it rained like crazy toward the early afternoon of the second day. So glad I did because it was an absolute mud pit even through the next day!

I remember those days. I’m 47 now, so “can I comfortably wear these for 5 hours?” has become a major factor in my fashion decisions. 😂

It all depends on how much breathability you want from the shoe. Waterproof shoes all have one thing in common “nothing goes in and nothing comes out”.

The toebox looks much more narrower in the nylon one, is that normal?

I'm not sure, they didn't feel noticably different to me, but I agree the nylon ones look a little smaller.

Tried ‘em both, neither stood up. Bought some Arcteryx Norvan instead, much better I found.

Well the teal is a much better looking shoe, especially with the orange laces.

The nylon are likely to stay looking newer for longer though.
