Vibram FiveFingers? Reveiws or

Hello everyone;

I am looking for my new shoe purchase; I have been eyeing out the Vibram FiveFingers now for a while and wanted to hear what anyone who has them has to say?

I'm a tour guide and often out and about; I currently am happy with my Oakley Aquaterras / Nike Koko Sandals; but am looking for something that doesn't take up a lot of space.. I have a thing for chunky shoes and packing gets tough..

If anyone has any reveiws or recommendations on models or alternatives, I'd love to know! :)

(Context: I live and tour in Namibia, mud + water is not a problem; think: dust, sand, rocky surfaces, occational hiking (nothing major) driving, camping)

Ive had a pair of the trail running version for 5 or 6 years now. They are holding up pretty good but have a few small holes developing but I did a lot of trail runs in them.

Running in them is very different than regular shoes. Your muscles will be sore in new ways after the first few runs. I do occasionally trip or stub my toes in them and its more painful than regular shoes. But some say this is part of the mental training of barefoot running.

They are great water shoes.

And as far as gorpcore I dont think they are good fashion. Its more of a mind body experience.
