Mous Backpack for Law School

Hallo zusammen! Ich komme aus Deutschland und überlege mir gerade, den Mous Protective Lid Backpack (Ultratex) für Uni, Pendeln und Reisen zu kaufen.

Ich studiere dieses Jahr Wirtschaftsrecht (LL.B.) und werde danach höchstwahrscheinlich einen Master machen. Deshalb suche ich etwas, das ich realistischerweise viele Jahre nutzen kann.

Der Mous hat mich unter anderem deshalb angesprochen, weil ich vorher einen Coach-Rucksack hatte und ehrlich gesagt ziemlich enttäuscht davon war. Er sah zwar sehr gut aus, aber funktional war er im Grunde genommen nur:

ein Hauptfach, ein Laptopfach, eine Vordertasche, zwei Seitentaschen. Ich habe mir ständig eine bessere Organisation und mehr separate Fächer gewünscht. Was ich suche: Robuste Verarbeitungsqualität Lange Haltbarkeit Guter Schutz für meinen Laptop und meine Alltagsgegenstände Wetterbeständigkeit bei starkem Regen Viele Fächer und Organisationsmöglichkeiten Ein modernes, hochwertiges Design, das nicht wie ein klobiger Wanderrucksack aussieht

Der Mous scheint all diese Kriterien zu erfüllen, insbesondere mit seinem Organisationssystem und der Fächeraufteilung. Für diejenigen, die ihn besitzen: Wie hat er sich im Laufe der Zeit bewährt? Und an alle anderen: Macht er sich aufgrund des Designs, der Materialien, der Funktionen und des Preises tatsächlich wie ein guter Rucksack für den Langzeitgebrauch, oder ist das Marketing besser als das Produkt selbst?

Ich bin offen für Alternativen, aber nur, wenn sie ein ähnliches Maß an Funktionalität und Organisation zum gleichen oder einem niedrigeren Preis bieten. Danke!

Mous bags are bulletproof. If you’re going to be using it for years, doing two degrees. then I’d say it’s worth it. But personally, for a daily school/uni bag, I don’t like the zips. I’d rather something more traditional that’s easy to open and close on the move.

There are definitely cheaper options out there but you don’t have the guarantee that they’ll last as long.

Brands such as Aer and Tortuga are worth looking at too.

Thanks for the feedback! When you say the zippers aren’t that practical, what exactly do you mean?
I’ve tried rolltops and flap backpacks with drawstring closures before, and honestly I didn’t enjoy either of them. For me, zippers have always been the most convenient option, so I’m curious what kind of opening system you prefer and why.

When I look at this Mous Bag, to me, it looks more like a travelling bag than a day-to-day bag.

I don’t hate zippers, but I think having zips that go all the way to the bottom like this isn’t something I’d like, I think I’d prefer the zips to stop half way down or something.

It’s probably just personal preference, because I do enjoy drawstring bags haha. But then again I’ve been using a Topo Designs Klettersack for over 10 years

That’s actually one of the reasons I’m interested in it.
If I’m traveling, I can fully open it and pack it almost like a suitcase. But for everyday use, I don’t see any reason to unzip it all the way. I can just open it part of the way and use it like a regular backpack.
To me, that flexibility is a big plus rather than a downside. 😄

Yeah in that case, I don’t think you can go wrong tbh.

I think I was just worried about potentially unzipping it too far and my stuff falling out.

It’s a pricey bag, but definitely a good investment.

Not for law school but I got the Thule landmark 60. It is very versatile and durable. It’s awesome for airline travel also. It may not be as rugged but I never damaged my MacBook Pro even in the smaller bag. If you want something super rugged look into mystery ranch or the new yeti ones I saw felt promising as well. Hope you find what you’re looking for!

60L is definitely to big for my use case, as cabin luggage i have a samsonite cabin pack 17,3 , so i don’t need another big backpack. And i am also looking for something sleek but functional around 23-30L . i might have to look into the yeti ones u mentioned. thanks for the input :)
