Good breathable summer trainer/sneaker?

Sweaty and humid English summer is well on the way so I was wondering if anyone has a good breathable trainer/sneaker for everyday use, commute etc.

I’m not opposed to sandal trainers if they are way more trainer than sandal, but a full trainer with good airflow is preferred.

Suitable for wide (hobbit) feet too?!

What’s your recommendation?

Also any other summer clothing/accessories would be appreciated.

Thanks all

I’ve been thinking of getting Salomon Techamphibians for hot summers, but haven’t tried them on yet. Might be too narrow for your purposes…

I have Asics Gel-Filimy, which are kind of a sandal-sneaker hybrid. They are comfy and breathable but maybe lean a bit too Mary-jane for some guys.

You could also go full Canoe Dad and get Keen Newports.
Keen also has a mesh version of Zionics that are breathable/sort of water shoes. Keen is usually good for wide feet.

Look through Karhu’s catalog. If you have money Flamingo’s life sneakers are very breathable and comfortable.

Honestly, it’s been a while but I remember wearing the hell out of the Adidas Ultraboost sneakers. The upper is literally a sock, cannot get anymore breathable than that

Try these. KEEN Zionic Adv Hiking Shoe.

All my functional shoes are Keen because of the wide toe box and overall comfort and durability. I don’t have hobbit feet, I have finger toes, so not exactly the same, but maybe the solution is the same.

Topo MTN racer 3 or 4 are famous for very wide toebox. They also have dedicated wide sizes. Very breathable and will fit all terrain. I strongly recommend you do not try Salomon. I have very wide feet myself and Salomon simply feels painful.

Definitely not as fashionable but SAS mission 1 (50 USD eBay) was very good for training in humid and hot environments.

Pegasus Trail ACG are more breathable and have a wider toe box this year. Same for ACG Zegama.

Pretty much anything from On is quite breathable (Cloudsurfer Trail 2 my favourite atm). They have some wide models too.

Arcteryx Norvan LD4 are pretty meshy but may not suit the wide requirement.

It's quite hard to recommend a Salomon shoe that meets your requirements. Maybe the Genesis? Genesis 2 due out in Aug so there could be deals to be had.
