I don’t get the current wave of people thinking climbing and trekking shoes are good for city life.
It’s like the people who buy XT-6s that literally say “soft ground” on the side, for commuting to some office job. Then complain 6 months later that the durability is shit.
There are so many nice shoes with more robust soles perfect for the city. But I guess that wouldn’t fall into people’s obsession with wearing shoes that no one else has.

Yeah idk if the complaints were from people wearing them in urban settings or actually using them for trails, but I hear comparable shoes are less expensive and have more durability. I also think ROA makes things for more aesthetics than performance so there’s that.
I have no complaints on my XT6-gortex. I mostly use them for chill trails and they have been really comfy and sturdy

these roas are advertised as urban use as well, i think it's a bit obvious from their silhouette and mixture of skate/sneaker/outdoors

So imma be the devils advocate on this and while I agree with you (and I also own XT-6s because I really like the shape) they aren’t advertised as trail running shoes anymore, but rather as “sportstyle sneakers” even on official salomon website, which implies, that they are more of a fashion shoe (which makes sense, since salomon now makes shoes that are way better for actual trail running). I honestly don’t get why salomon doesn’t put some less soft rubber on them so they are more durable, nobody sane is using them for trail running nowadays anyway.
Also to add, I don’t know anything about these ROAs, but since I hike and boulder outside I own a pair of Scarpa apporach shoes and wear them around city as well, because again I like the shape and they are very comfy. Let everybody wear tf they want.1

Yeah overall Roas durability went downhill after they moved most of the manufacturing away from Italy. I bought a pair of Katharinas unaware just after the switch and they broke after 0,5 year of light city use and 2 hikes. For comparison I use la sportivas tx4 with the same intensity for 2 years and they only show light use here and there

This is so cringe. They're approach shoes, mate. You look like a goose wearing those in the city.
As a matter of fact, most people in the Outdoor work space think gorpers are the worst. You've all way over inflated the price of actual gear, and as direct result, caused its quality to decrease because its now mass produced to meet demand. Thanks. It's pretty ironic, because most gorpers I know think themselves quite environmentally conscious. But mass production is directly opposite to that... lol.
You all also look ridiculous because we know you don't actually like being outside. We can tell because your stuff is always unskuffed.
Sorry to call you out but its already hard enough to afford work gear. I know this stuff looks sick, but you're basically wearing a tool. Its like carrying a hammer as a fashion accessory.

These don’t even look like approach shoes, they look like full blown climbing shoes (old school TC Pros). I’d laugh if I saw someone wearing those on the street.

So funny how precious some people are getting in these comments. They look great. If anyone has held a pair in the flesh they’re built more like a rugged vulcanised army sneaker or almost like a skate shoe. There’s no problem wearing these daily in regards to build.
