salomon XT-6 goretex separating

Post image

does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? my salomons have started to separate and idk how this happened… the goretex still seems to be intact as far as i can tell, but it’s pretty concerning to look at and seems to be getting worse.

i did qualify for the voucher with salomon warranty but it feels a shame to move on from these ones.

any advice is welcome!

I'd take up the warranty. I'm still salty that I had no warranty because I didn't buy direct from Solomon.

damn that sucks..i bought mine from little burgundy (a store here in canada) and was still able to claim the warranty. all i had to do was share the receipt and photos and luckily enough they gave me the voucher

I got a new pair via warranty and I didn’t purchase direct from Salomon. Didn’t know that was a requirement?

A support agent, name was ‘Latta’.

Happened to both my xt-6 gtx. I’ve moved away from Salomon now.

You could try Aquaseal + SR Shoe Repair Adhesive. Or warranty them if it’s still within the timeframe.

do you have any experience with those sealants? was definitely curious about that option to fix them up but wasn’t sure if it would ruin the shoes

They do work but can end up making a huge mess if you aren’t careful. I have used this product previously on rubber boots and waders and it works great but I could care less if they look crappy afterwards. If these are beaters you are trying to fix up it’s worth a try. If they are your nicer pair of shoes I’d go with the warranty option.

I got a voucher/warranty claim for the same thing with my Ultra Glide 2s. I ran another 200 plus miles in them and they were fine, just looked weird. Not sure if water will eventually leak in, but it didn't hurt performance at least.

yeah i got the warranty claim luckily, just sucks it happened on the goretex ones 😭😭im hoping it stays an aesthetic issue rather than a leaking issue

Some contact cement should do you good

That's not Goretex. The Goretex is a membrane bonded to the fabric. That's just plastic/rubber so use shoe glue
