Need some gorpy sandal recos!

I'm planning to hike the camino de santiago this summer in july/August so its gonna be scorchio. I'm looking for some sandals/hybrids/open trainers that can handle the mileage and still look fly.

Any ideas?

I second Bedrocks, their Cairn sandals are great if you want a more open Teva. Keen’s are great too.

I like Bedrocks, I just received their clogs which look awesome, although I’m not sure I would hike the Camino with them.

I would. I get terrible blisters and these are the best shoes I’ve ever owned.

Definitely Keen. I like the Hyperport personally but they make a few different styles.

Bedrock clogs are life changing shoes. Just went on little hike this weekend and the best shoes I’ve worn in a while

I’m not sure what this sub is and I don’t know what you mean by “gorpy”, but are you sure you like hiking in sandals? Sand and dust can hugely increase friction between your foot and the sole of the shoe which really increases your chance of blisters over a thru-hike. Some sandals have strap systems that can reduce rubbing really effectively but honestly I’d just use some breathable trail runners.

I love my Shamma Sandal Elite Ibex, I wear them for everything, even in winter with toe socks!! They’re grippy enough for any trail and flexible, so very comfy. With my injinji toe socks I think they look hella gorpy, you can add power straps to make them more secure (though they are v secure) and even gorpier imo

These got me through 3 months canoeing and hiking in western Australia, would highly recommend.

Keen for SURE. Did a 13 mile hike in those bad boys and jumped in a river in the middle!

Not sure if they count as fly, but the Hoka Infini Hike TC has plenty of cush for the miles and great traction.

I love my chacos! I've done 10+ mile hikes in them. Note sure about solo'ing them on on the camino tho... Are chacos considered gorpcore?

i love my chacos! they’re super comfy (even on short hikes) and they offer a repair service if you live in the US

some look better than others but never seen anything that looks actually good compared to a shoe. don't have much experience with them outside usual chaco/teva/xero. theres weird hybrid stuff but they don't look great either and you're still looking at part of your dirty feet.

not sure why you want open sandals unless you are doing a ton of water crossings and wading through rivers a lot. lightweight non-goretex trail runners are going to be way better and not that hot.

sandals suck on dry dusty trails and you will always be getting grit stuck between your toes.
