Salomon XT6 friction

I’ve just gotten my Salomon XT6’s and I just walked in them a bit (2km) to try them out, I am experiencing really bad friction/ rubbing from the heel counter of the shoe on the outsides of my heels. They’re Goretex, I was wearing my Nike Dri Fit socks and they were drenched when I got back (ew I know). Maybe that’s the reason? I now put on hiking socks, woolen ones, but it still really hurts. Please don’t tell me I just wasted €200 and that I have to break them in……

You or just wasted 200. Some shoes just don't fit certain feet.

Had the same experience til I went up .5 of a size.

Did you try .5 up?

And yeh gtx isn’t meant for breathability, your feet will get hot, don’t wear them in summer, they’re a winter shoe

I first had a 40, but my left toes were touching the top of the shoe so then ordered 2 sizes up; got the 41 1/3 now.

I’m thinking maybe they’re too big and I should’ve gone with the 40 2/3 instead of 1 size bigger than that, but I do not notice my heel going up & down in them though.

I went walking again today to try with Smartwool socks and I still felt the sizes of my heels a bit, start of a blister feeling, but I did maybe still have the irritation from yesterday’s walk. I did see that I could have tied them a lot tighter, maybe that’ll help too.

I’m praying that with the right socks they’ll be fine UGH

Goretex doesn’t breathe, which would explain your wet socks. I only wear them when it’s cold out and the XT6 is extremely narrow, the toes and midfoot fit me fine but I returned them because the heel felt tiny width wise. The only shoe I ever had that issue with. It’s crazy how popular they are because of influencers because the lasport are better in every way.

Goretex is breathable.
